I love the chair. It is very easy to sit in all day long at the office. I was concerned that I would have to work my way up to sitting on it that long, but that was not the case. First day I was able to sit the whole time. The only negative is the back rest is too far back to actually be used for support. I did hook on a lumbar log-type pillow and that now gives my back something to rest on or at least a mark to meet to keep me sitting up straight and help my back stay in the proper position. Other than that I think the chair will help to maintain and improve balance, core strength and leg & butt tone.

I just LOVE my BalanceBall chair. Ever since we installed it in our Chiropractic office, my back has felt better than ever! Patients continually ask about it, and more often than not they end up purchasing one themselves! In fact, I loved it so much that I recently ordered the Sage version for my home office too...
I bought this two weeks ago and it has been a nice alternative to office chairs. No lower back pain. Forces me to be conscience of how I'm sitting and force my abs to do a little work to keep me balanced.
I bought this 2 weeks ago and love it! I am short so regular chairs don't usually have enough adjustability so I can sit in the proper position. It would be great if the legs could be extended for very tall people (over 6').

I am trying to improve my tango dancing skills, which requires having a strong body frame. The BalanceBall Chair is helping me do this by encouraging me to sit up straight and use my back and core muscles to support my frame. I feel like I'm getting a good work out when using my computer. The chair was easy to assemble and it's not bad looking.

Comment on chair base (its review page no longer accessible): slightly noisy when rolled over office carpet. A little annoying that a slight bump on the brake will engage it.

Quite frankly, I'm stymied by all the positive reviews. The idea of this chair is great. The actual execution is disappointing. First, the pump that comes with it is nowhere near adequate to fully inflate the ball. It's garbage. I had to bust out the bike pump to get enough air in the ball. Second, the ball has a rough surface. Any kind of fabric sticks to it and makes manuevering or small adjustments on the ball awkward. I have a permanent wedgie when using this chair. Third, the cheap plastic frame. Any move I make, reaching across my desk, sliding to answer the phone is broadcast loudly to my entire office. The frame just rattles, squeaks, clicks & groans with every move. It's beyond annoying. The tiny brakes on the hard plastic wheels gave me a real chuckle - like the handle-brake on my Big Wheel growing up. As far as using the ball by itself for exercise, again, good in theory but the ball is so small, unless you're a leprechaun (no offense to leprechauns), it's not going to happen. Also, as far as strengthening your core, since this ball is anchored in the circle of the frame, there is no balance required to sit on the ball. Your core is not engaged; it's just like sitting on a round cushy barstool. Disappointment prompted me to bring my large balance ball to work to sit on and it's LIGHT YEARS better. No noise, the correct height, forces me to balance. Save your $100 and get a regular balance ball instead.

I was experiencing lower back pain from sitting while doing computer work, and this chair has made such a difference! It helps to keep me stretching and strengthening my core, resulting in less tightness and pain in my lower back!
