I bought one of these to add to my existing MXT400s that we have for general camping/off road and E-Prep communication. The MXT400s have the power to send the signals through our residential area full of hills and valleys, I went out 4+ miles and even in most of the blind zones in the far valleys I was getting only minor static in the background of the transmissions with the 2.1DB antenna. Could probably get further with the 6DB antenna. With the GXT handsets I have been getting about 1.5 to 2 miles. 3X the power with more than 2x the range was great. This will help me keep in contact with the other Area E-Prep coordinators in the area with FRS or GMRS units at distances. The speaker on this unit seems to be better than on the MXT400. I bought external speakers for those and it helps the clarity greatly.

We bought these at the beginning of harvest for our combine, grain cart and trucks. We added the 6dB antenna to each vehicle and an external speaker for the combine. The range works 10+ miles for our area. We will be adding additional speakers to each vehicle for volume. Our handheld radios work with these but have the smaller range. Great Product.

I bought this radio for it's size. It is a great radio for the money as well. Needed this due to most of the Jeep group being on GMRS. This radio proves that you don't have to go for the most expensive to get a lot of features and have something that is really dependable.

I bought this and it took me no longer than 10 minutes, if that, to install. The radios work great and are perfect for what we need on the farm between tractors. We plan on purchasing more in the future.

We are utilizing the radios in an ag application and can hear the radio in the tractor pretty good, but not great. The location of the mount in the combine is slightly behind the seat and lower, therefore not as easy to hear. For this reason, I would strongly recommend an external speaker, most likely in both pieces of equipment (tractor and combine in this case). I like the radios and install was very quick and easy. The radios are compact, yet built fairly heavy. The mic is built nice and heavy and the side button to key up is very easy to find and actuate, perhaps sometimes a bit to easy (hit it almost every time you handle it unless your extra careful). The range in our rolling terrain with lots of trees has been above expectations. Depending on location and direct obstruction, I would say 4 miles in less than ideal terrain for radio communication is doable, farther in spots with less obstruction. Machine to machine in the same 2 mile radius is NO PROBLEM AT ALL, regardless of obstruction. All in all I am satisfied with the product. Mounting is easy and the radio quick attaches the the bracket. Very well built, just wish they were about twice as loud.
