I have some GMRS handsets and they aren't that great where I live (mountains/forest). The MXT115 and it's 15w of power gives me much better range, even with the stock antenna. I got the 115 so I could pair with a 6db antenna and a operator 115 ammo can system from portableuniversalpower0com. I also had to call midland tech support and my issue was resolved quickly and professionally.
