Directions are not very descriptive about blowing up the ball. Make sure you locate the plug for the ball before blowing it up. This chair is too large for kindergarten students, but it fits most first graders of average height. Works great for those children who are in constant motion. Works as a "calming activity" for my one autistic student, replaces jumping on the trampoline.

Metal bar didn't hold up , Otherwise Loved It

I have had my chair for approximately 8 months and loved it. Unfortunately the bolt holding the bar holding the ball in place sheared off and is not fixable. :( . I really love the chair and having a hard time purchasing another because I am afraid it will happen again.

Core Strength Posture

My interest in the balanceball chair began with the knowledge that core strength is all about posture. So, I purchased my ball chair for my home office. Sitting on the ball chair encourages me to sit up and take notice of my posture at all times. Whenever I tire of sitting up straight in my chair, I do small bounces up and down to stimulate the immune system. The Desktop Guide book that comes with the chair has some very beneficial stretches and movements. I like that the chair is lightweight, and that the ball can be removed to do a workout and then be replaced back in the chair out of the way.

Good inexpensive chair alternative

I have just purchased my second ball chair, having had the first for two and a half years and a part of the bottom plastic started to fold in. I'm large, so that seems acceptable to me. As others have commented, the wheels aren't great, with them locking themselves...which if you move the chair anyway leads to the wheel falling apart over time. Bought one replacement from Gaiam, and when the second one happened, went to a local caster store and replaced all four with sturdier, non-locking ones for the same price as one replacement (Northwest Caster & Equip if you're in the area...or want to order). Those aside, it's otherwise been a great chair, no problems with the ball at all. I would have preferred having paid a little more for a higher quality chair that didn't have to have the wheels replaced and buy a second one less than three years later.

I am purchasing my second ball chair, my daughter stole my first one. I have had that chair for at least 3 years and it is still in great shape. We both have sitting jobs and chairs are not comfortable for us. We are wigglers, this ball allows us to sit in many different positions. Awesome investment, better than sitting on a stand alone ball, we can use the ball for exercise in the workplace also.

Just what we all needed

I saw the classic balance ball chair at my doctors office and the girl at the front desk said she loves it. So when we opened our new real estate office we knew we would need chairs, I mentioned these chairs to the women who work with us and they loved the idea of keep your core working while working. It's been four weeks and we all love this chair, if you start to get tired just bounce around and that get the blood flowing too. I still cross my leg, I know, I know, but I think it works my core even more, the ball it self can be as hard or soft as you want, it took one day to get the right firmness and so easy to put together. Since then mortgage agents have come in and they loved the thought of these chairs and have gone on line to get them for them selves, and they are thanking me for introducing them to the chairs. If your thinking of getting this chair, what are you waiting for? It moves easy (so be careful not to kick it out when you go to sit down, and no I haven't done that yet) and yes there are locks for the wheels, you can lean back on the back rest, the chair is comfortable, and fun!! Enjoy your new core if you buy this!!
