This chair has been a great addition to the office. I'm working on my posture in ways I didn't think were possible while seated. I work in a teen room at a public library, and both the kids and their parents are loving the sensation of sitting in this chair!
My friend has one of these chairs and she loves it. I tried it and thought it would work for me at my desk but it is too short. I would like it more if I could adjust the height. My back and legs don't hurt when I get up but I get fatigued sitting there for very long.
Overall, I am pleased with the chairs we have ordered. Easy to assemble and seem sturdy. The back support isn't the sturdiest but that's not the true intent of the product anyway. I have the back off of mine and enjoy the ability to some ab work whenever I want to. The first workout you will get with the chair is inflating the ball with the included pump; it takes a minute.
This chair has made me much more aware of my posture which is helping to alleviate the pain in my lower back. Also works my legs.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have been suffering with degenerative disk disease in my lumbar spine for about two years. I tried elevating my workstation and standing for a year, but that did not help my condition and was ultimately not recommended by my physical therapist. It was suggested by my massage therapist (I have a lot of therapists in my life) that I try a balance ball chair. Although there are other chairs on the web, I decided to go with Gaiam because of their guarantee and I was already familiar with the company. The chair was very simple to put together. I have been using the chair exclusively at my desk for about 3 weeks. It has been really good for me. I certainly do a lot less slouching. I like being able to change the position of my legs easily. I can easily drop my knees toward the floor and sit almost frog style. I also think this chair helps maintain a natural curvature of the spine, which is very important and can be compromised in many chairs. I was worried about not having arm rests - I think it's better without the arm rests. I haven't had any real trouble with the wheels, which other reviewers mentioned. One of my wheels clicks sometimes, but that is it. I basically blitzed my back condition over the last two months with a new inversion table, new balance ball chair, new physical therapist and new massage therapist. My back is significantly better. I wish I could point to one thing and say it was the answer, but I can't. For me, the balance ball chair is one piece of the puzzle that has helped me become more pain free than I have been in two years. I am delighted and thankful.
This chair is great if you have back issues. I also recommend it to all my prenatal massage clients. With many people having jobs that require them to sit for long periods of time, this chair allows you to maintain proper back alignment. The stretching exercises in the accompanying booklet are helpful too.
I bought this chair at the advice of my Physical Therapist, in order to help correct my posture, thereby reducing the frequency and intensity of episodes of pinched nerves and herniated disc pains in my neck and spine. A chair like this one was used as part of my physical therapy treatment and when used as directed, forces your body to sit in proper alignment. An extra plus is that it works the core muscles in your thighs and abdomen to help strengthen and tone as you are sitting. That's quite a lot for a chair to do for such a reasonable price. I look forward to enjoying my computer time with less pain in the future and hope only to see my physical therapist when I drop in to say "Hi" and have a cup of coffee.
