This product is easy to assemble and has really made a difference for me. I had begun to have back problems at least in part from my desk chair. I assembled this in 20 minutes after bringing it to my office in the carrying case and I've been enjoying it ever since. It's comfortable, easy to use and everyone in my office wants to try it out.

too hard on your backside

I have degenerative disc disease and sit at a desk all day with bad pain. A woman at my office sits on this chair and swears by it so I decided to order one. At first I loved it. I thought it was a fun idea but after several hours, my butt started to really ache and so did the back of my upper legs. I decided to stick with it one more day to be sure it was the ball giving me the pain and after the next day, I knew that instead of it helping, it was causing me additional pain. I also noticed that I was slouching more. I am sure it will help some, but for me, no. I am about 95 pounds and five feet tall. I don't have a lot of butt padding so maybe that is the issue. The other thing that concerned me is that it had a rubbery smell and I worried that when it got hot in the office it would be torture sitting on a hot ball. The best thing about the experience was the customer service dept at Gaiam-they made the return easy and effortless so although I didn't keep the ball, it was easy to return.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have 2 already- my son 'borrowed' my first one for his computer desk and it's so great to see a 15-year-old sit up straight, I had to get another one for me. Now I need another one for my desk at work!

Having recently retired (not entirely by choice), I found myself spending extended amounts of time at the PC - playing cognitive skills games in fear of losing my mind, as well as using email to stay in touch with former co-workers, all now scattered around the world. I began experiencing hip, back and leg pain and finally connected it to sitting at the PC. I had considered this balance ball chair for some time, but couldn't justify replacing the current 'ergonomic' chair at the PC, I knew I just had to focus on better sitting posture. Then my husband got a job that enabled him to work from home, so he needed the current chair to setup a workstation with his company supplied laptop. That opened the door for the purchase of this chair, and voila'! All pain is gone and I can sit for hours at a time, while strengthening core muscles and improving posture. I am also only 5'2" and was worried that might be a problem, but it is just perfect - feet flat on the floor, knees at 90 degree angle. The style is not perfect for our decor, but when not sitting in it, it fits completely under our built in desk. My husband at 5'11" also finds it comfy, but I'm not giving it up!

This chair is so comfortable to sit on. You sit for a very long time in comfort. Plus you can remove the ball and you it to strengthen your core and legs, as well as other muscles.

Love this chair. Not only is it sleek and comfortable...it also can be used as a workout. It forces me to correct my posture and strengthens my core. I use this chair at home...BUT i'm seriously considering bringing it to my job or ordering another one. Finally a chair that works to my benefit! Thanks Gaiam for making this wonderful product.

It was time for a new chair at work and at home and I had a choice of choosing something akin to a tradition chair that although comfortable would definitely promote bad posture or the ball chair. I gambled and went for the ball and oh was it the best choice. Not only has my posture improved I feel more alert through-out the day! Nice. A week after I bought one for home, I convince my job to let me have one for the office as well!

I love this chair. I had neck surgery and I have a desk job and was unable to sit on my regular chair for any length of time without having severe pain. I purchased this chair because I have been exercising and sitting on a ball for a while now. I knew I would never get away with the ball at work... but since this is actually a chair I am okay to use it. I have noticed that I am a little sore in my core... so it must be doing it's job!!! :)
