The chair is too low for me to sit comfortably - thighs are not parallel to the floor - avoid if you have long legs. Exercise with the balance ball is a plus.
I am a heavier gal (220+lbs) and have had this chair for about 2 weeks. I'm not sure if it's because the ball is new or because I am exerting so much weight on it but it seems to deflate a bit quickly. After I pump it up within a day or two it is back to pre-pump size. I like to sit higher so it is preferable for the ball to be at maximum inflation but does not seem to stay at that level for any significant time. I don't feel any 'core strengthening' but it does feel cushioned under my bum. I think it may alleviate some pressure vs a traditional desk chair but nothing really noticeable. It works as something for me to sit on while at work but I would not rush out to buy another if this one breaks. Try it...maybe you'll like it. I don't hate it but I am not as impressed as I was hoping to be.

Lower Back Pain

I am a 5'6" male and weigh approximately 234 lbs. I've been using the Balance Ball Chair for about two weeks. After using it the first few days, my lower back began to hurt and ache. I thought perhaps it was just my lower back muscles becoming accustomed to supporting my new posture and weight distribution. To be sure I was sitting properly, I had my co-worker check my posture. All seems fine. However, in the second week, my back lower back continues to hurt. Is this normal? Does it take time to condition your back? Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.
I am missing the plug so cannot blow up the ball yet. Customer service was very nice when I called and stated they would send a new one right away.

Gives and takes. It is more comfortable and easier to sit upon than other swiss ball chairs. However, for long periods, some back support would be really helpful. Wish the back would go up higher. I think it must be doing something to help with muscles. After the first month of use, I was able to feel some muscles being used, but not feeling them anymore and we've had the chair six months.

Noticable Difference in Back Pain Relief

Every office chair my work has purchased for me has left me in pain at the end of the day. I showed my boss the pic of the BalanceBall chair and he was intrigued, and okay'ed its purchase. It was probably one of the best things I've ever done to fight my chronic back pain. I get a lot of strange looks from people who've never seen one, but I get just as many people who are so intrigued themselves, they're considering getting one too. I notice the difference on the days I have to sit on a different chair - the BalanceBall puts my spine in proper alignment so I *can't* slouch, even if I wanted to. My only criticism is that there is only one size and someone who's taller or with longer legs would probably not get the same "knees at 90 degrees" comfort that I get at 5'6". If you tend to wear high heels, this too makes a difference in how you sit on the chair.
I have had this chair for almost 2 years now and I love it! I sit for most of the work day and would go home at night with terrible lower back pain. Now I do not have any pain even after a long 10 hour day!

People tell me I have great posture!

So I have been sitting on this balance ball chair for about a month now, and I did not experience all the pain that some reviewers have talked about, but everytime a coworker passes by my office, I'm told I have great posture. Since I was trained in classical dance from a young age, I was told that I had excellent posture, so perhaps I don't feel much of a difference sitting on this, but the one thing I do love about this chair (other than it's funky look) is that it makes me move more. My old office chair, as much as it was uncomfortable, could have me seated for hours at a time. This new one enables me to get up and stretch and move around more, which is difficult at a job like mine where I need to be constantly focused on the computer and phone. The most difficult part about assembling this chair was pumping the ball (which wasn't all that difficult, but a bit of a workout at first). And yes, you should pump it about every week or so, and it's takes about 2 minutes to do...which, in my opinion, is not a big deal. Everyone at work has commented on my chair, and 2-3 people actually want one for themselves (my boss included). I highly enjoy this chair and hope to continually reap its benefits. P.S. I love the plum color :)
