I recently bought the yoga ball chair and I couldn't be more happy with it. Yes, you do need to add air every once in awhile but not a big deal since it is easy to do. I HIGHLY recommend that you buy the leg extenders, otherwise the chair sits low.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The chair structure is very easy to put together (the wheels take a little persuasian to pop in, but besides that...). The ball does take several days to "relax" or whatever so that maximum air can be pumped into it, and sometimes I feel like a shorter person #I'm 5'7"# would be more comfortable in this chair than I am; but then I just inflate it some more and feel better. I'm not feeling the ab engagement you read about with these chairs, but even if it's just placebo, I feel like it's helping my posture...
I bought this chair for my office at work since I put in long hours. At 5'3", it is too low to do desk work. If I am using the computer, I have to bring the keyboard down to be comfortable. I have spine problems and hoped it would help. A regular sized balance ball works better but was looking for the stability of the chair. Guess it will come home and just be an occasional chair somewhere.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I loved the chair until the metal pieces that holds the ball in place sheared off at the base. I have only used this chair for a month and now I cannot sit in it because the ball is lopsided from no stability.

Not as effective as an actual ball

I have scoliosis and three herniated discs, and I have chronic back pain which is aggravated by sitting. I sit at a desk all day for work, and have been sitting on a balance ball for several months. I find the ball infinitely more comfortable than sitting on a chair, but I have always wanted to try the ball/chair to see if it provided just a little more stability. This is exactly what it does do, but I think that actually takes away from the effectiveness. I find that sitting on the ball does not allow me to slouch even a little bit, and when the ball is stabilized within the chair, that corrective alignment is somehow compromised. I work 3 days a week from home and 2 days a week in an office. I will probably bring this chair to the office, as it is a bit less obtrusive than the big green ball I currently sit on, and bring the big green ball back home.
When a coworker bought this chair I was surprised at how comfortable it was to sit on. So I bought a chair for everyone in my dept. They're very happy with them.
5 stars for the intention and purpose of the chair. 2 stars deducted due to (A) the nozzle for the included pump not staying in place when inflating the ball. (B) the ball when inflated is measuring 45cm vs 52cm per item description (C) Small tear in the outer layer of the ball .I purchased the Gaiam Balance ball chair from The Sports Authority for a Christmas gift. After finally getting the ball inflated it appears to be smaller than advertised and does not fit in the chair as depicted - there is about a 2 inch gap between the ball and the front bar. The size discrepancy makes the chair too low for me to use with the desk in my home office.
