Steam from oven vents out sides; damages cabinetry

I would love this oven for its features if it weren't for the fact that it directs steam generated out the sides of the doors, rather than over the top through the built-in vents. There is enough steam that it damages the finish on the cabinets. GE has replaced it, but the replacement one still does this when I cook with a combination of heat and microwaves for even long enough to bake two potatoes. When I only cook with microwaves for a short amount of time, there isn't enough steam to cause damage. I'm sorry I spent so much money on it because of this poor element of its design. That is why I have rated it poor in the overall rating.

Some difficulty

The functionality of this microwave is terrific, but, for a woman of 5'3", I didn't take into account that the door opens toward me. It is difficult for me to reach into it. Caution if you're vertically challenged.

The time adjuster is out after year and a half and it’s not doing anything because everything is related to that item.

My Advantium oven replaced my old microwave, and what a good choice that was! I've used it for baking, roasting, browning, reheating, cooking vegetables. It could replace everything except the barbeque! I like it so well I've purchased a second Advantium for our motor home.

More of a Warming oven and microwave

I thought I could use this as an alternative to my large gas range when cooking for just myself and my husband, but it does not really cook like a real oven. Also, you have to us a different rotating plate and metal tray, depending on if you are microwaving or using the oven, which makes is much more complicated than it should be to put something in the oven. It is also no faster than my regular oven and you can only brown/broil something if you use the metal rack, which is so high that you can barely fit a cookie tray on top of the rack before it hits the top of the oven.

Not what I expected.

Not what I expected. The convection takes longer than a larger convection wall oven takes and it is hard to reach in over the hot door to remove cooked items over the door that pulls down in front. I would find this easier to use if the door opened from the side. Also I have had a repair serviceman out to fix the vibration in the microwave mode twice. I am not happy with this unit & it was too expensive to not like it....

Bought a new home with this installed. Within 1 day of moving in an using this device is developed an extremely loud buzzing noise that we've not been able to eliminate despite reseting the power to the unit.
Now we have to follow up with GE...

Only thing that would fit.

We had a GE Profile countertop microwave with a built in wall kit that worked well for just over five years, until the magnetron began arching significantly. Of course that microwave is no longer available, and apparently, unlike ranges, refrigerators, and dishwashers, microwave ovens are not built in standardized sizes. So we were stuck with one choice and one choice only. The good news is that our only choice is a very nice, though expensive, appliance. The current version of this appliance will not work as the top display section of the unit is now over an inch taller making it so that the top cabinet doors will not allow that unit to fit, which really sucks because that is the unit we really wanted. If these items are going to be called “built in” then they need to be standardized for cutout and trim dimensions. GE, are you listening? Thank you MJ’s for being such a wonderful, professional and helpful dealer!

Hello, thanks for leaving a review. We're sorry you couldn't get the wall oven you'd hoped for, but we're glad this one has been an excellent replacement. Your comments on the dimensions of newer models is much appreciated as well. We want you to have plenty of options when choosing an appliance and the experience you've shared is pertinent to achieving this. Thanks again for the review and have a wonderful day. -Sylvia@GEA
