Great media device. Not so great phone. I keep loosing the 4G data connection and am experiencing weak 3G also. The screen is beautiful, but dim so it doesn't work well as a car navigation system like my 2 year old Motorola DX. My wife has the Droid Razr Maxx and it will keep the 4G signal in the exact same location my S3 will not get 4G or sketchy 3G. My wife's Razr will get 2-3 bars of 4G and I have no connection at all. Sorry, phone is being returned. Sad day as I had really anticipated it. Read the forums on signal issues before purchase. With WiFi off, I get repeated messages automatically from the S3 that say: Known WiFi network available. Connect? If WiFi is off, how does it know there is a known network? If WiFi is off, why do I get constant reminders to turn it on? Also, I and others, receive constant notifications that you are about to use an app that might use a lot of data (browser), would you like to turn WiFi on? Very annoying seeing this un-removable notification.
Pros: Inexpensive, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations, dim screen, weak signal reception/drops data connection
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I replaced my Blackberry Bold 9900 for the Galaxy 3, big mistake. It has a great design and so many features. The best is the camera and video recorder combo which allows for capture while recording. Performance ahhh not as good as I excepted, uploads and downloads are almost the same as 3G. And not worth the price.
It is missing a feature to lock only certain features, for example if I let my kid see a video I'd like a feature to lock video I dont want him to see. The smiley's are weird looking and I cannot get use to them and finally the battery needs to be charged MINIMUM twice a day. My icons get stuck.....
