we had it installed last 10Jan2017 and so far we are happy. Yes, there is a noise (fan is like hitting something. my electrician also noticed it) but will eventually go away. (TIP :put on Med first then go to Low so there ill be no noise. Noise is usually at LOW) The venthood (main part) we had it installed as our electrician needs to hard wire it. But the chimney part we did it ourselves and i should say it was hard-- screw was tiny for the opening. But over all we as happy with our chosen venthood.

Looks Great and Works Well

This is a very sturdy hood and looks very sharp in our new kitchen. So far the performance has met our expectations - draws steam and smoke and prevents the accumulation in our kitchen. Do recommend for others.

Important information for 9' ceiling installation

If your ceiling is 9' or higher, you will definitely need to buy the extension kit. I asked this question on the extension kit section and based on the information GE provided moved forward without. That was a mistake. Coming out of the box, when its assembled as instructed with 9' ceilings, the bottom of your hood would be 38" above the cooktop. Measure it out, it's pretty high.

Did a Great Job Finishing Off the Kitchen

The hood is terrific esthetically and provides good lighting and ventilation for the stove. The slate finish is the best. We are very happy with this product.

Worst ever

I had bought this a couple of weeks ago, tried to install and the chimney part would not fit into the canopy part without a gap in the corners. Called several different people to help get this fixed and no luck. Just got a bunch of run around. I was looking forward to having this in the kitchen but don't think that will happen as I am so upset with the way it fits together.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor vent design

The vent guards don't stay up, due to a short tab. When I'm cooking a touch any of the buttons (to turn fan on/off, or light on/off) one of the covers will fall into where I am cooking. Irritating!
