May be too scary for some

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The dinosaur arrived well packaged and easy to assemble. The fins clicked in place and stayed. The “skin” is leathery and bumpy. You can push it in and it feels a little soft. The toy is very detailed and neat to look at. It doesn’t make any sounds, allowing children to make their own play.
I gave it to my son who is three years and 9 months. He usually plays with cars, trucks, construction vehicles, and some small figurines. We previously bought him some dinosaurs that are about 3 to 4 inches big, not nearly as big as this toy. However, he doesn’t really play with the dinosaurs he already has in his collection. He played with his new dinosaur as soon as I gave it to him! He said it was cool! He didn’t carry it around and chose to keep it on the coffee table. He said it was too heavy for him. (It is much heavier and bigger than his usual toys). He put his hotwheel cars in the dinosaur’s mouth and pretended to capture them. He seemed to be interested in the skin’s texture. But he didn’t really play with the toy the next day, which was odd since he usually plays with a new toy for about a week before incorporating it into general play. When I asked him what was wrong, he said it was “too scary”.
I ultimately put the toy away and will keep it for a few months because it seems to frighten him. Maybe when he sees dinosaur movies he will be more interested.
Bottom line, I think that the toy is very well constructed and is fun for imaginative play. It is very heavy for a little kid to carry around the house. I do think that the toy may be too scary for a a little kid who doesn’t watch any dinosaur movies. It may say three and up on the package, but that doesn’t mean it is necessarily suitable for a young kid who doesn’t have much dino experience.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Big dinosaur!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At first my daughter was thrilled to get such a huge toy! And then I struggled for 30 mins to get one of the flippers on. It’s still not on. It’s impossible. All of the other three went on no problem, but this fourth one is not going. My daughter loves the features, like how big the mouth opens and the texture. It’s a cool toy, except for the flipper. I’ve tried so many times that the little click in part is bent. Not sure we’ll ever have a 4 flipper dinosaur.
I would recommend this to a friend!
