I was unfortunate to get a DUI. I believed that I was not under the influence, but I did have a BAC of .11. Now just to see how many drinks it took to reach .08 and the wait time to reach a BAC of .00. When I did my test and researched my results, they were text book correct. This device is precise, I will follow its results implicitly.
I bought this device for myself after a minor DUI. Since then, I bought one for my boyfriend. I find it accuarate and eye-opening. Sometimes, even if you drink just a drink or two, you have no idea of how long your personal metabolism works to get you back to sober. Thus is a handy device, small and discrete, to keep you off the road when you have no business being in it. Drive safe!!
This is the third unit I've owned over the years. And it's the best. It is small and I like the features it has using the phone app. It says you can use it with or without the mouthpiece, but I found it reads about a point higher without it. Keep it in my car and use it whenever necessary. And yes, it has kept me off the road.
I have a state-calibrated interlock device in my car. I use the BACtrack to ensure that prior to giving a recorded sample that I am under 0.05 BAC which allows me to legally start the engine. The BACtrack consistently measures +\- .01 higher than the interlock within the same time frame but hey, it's worth the wait!
I used it at 3 different occasions within one month. It really seems to be reliable and accurate because, it will give you aproxmatly the same results if you blow several times in a row. I hope it will last and stay reliable with the time.
This unit is small, portable, and easy to use. It charges via USB and comes with three disposable (but also reusable, with cleaning) mouthpieces. I go back and forth on whether I wish it had a display on the unit itself, or whether having the display only show on the smartphone is the better option - can't really complain!
