I have been spending a lot of time building/playing with Lego with our children. However, building Lego with small children, though rewarding in its own way, is not relaxing. That is why I decided to try this set out myself, without the kid's help. Overall, I enjoyed this set, but I do have several issues and items I can share for those contemplating trying out the Architecture line.
This set was very repetitive, which, on first glance, sounds like a negative. However, I found the sorting and repetitive use of similar elements to be soothing. The limited number of colors used in this set helped to make the sorting process much simpler, but did make it a little harder to find pieces a little harder during the build.
The Instruction booklet is very nicely laid out. I enjoy reading about the places which the build represents. I would have preferred if the beginning section were spread out throughout the book, with facts about each building coming right before you built that building.
The instructions begin with the all black base the set rests on. This consists mostly of plates with some tiles. However, there was an interesting section with some bars towards the end of the base build that inspired me to wonder where this would be leading.
Next, you build the Statue of liberty. the statue itself is represented by a sand green microfigure, which is fun, but it is small and the base is not that interestsing.
After that comes the Empire State building. This structure is covered with 1x2 tan grills. It does use some interesting techniques, but it was the most repetitive part of the build.
The Chrysler Building was mostly just stacked plates and jumpers, but did have a interesting top section. My biggest complaint with this building was the difficulty of disassembly. All of those stacked plates are a pain to seperate.
I was underwhelmed with the Flat Iron Building. It was essentially just stacked wedge plates, but it was small and easy to complete.
One World Trade Center was the most interesting part of the build. It utilized some innovative techniques to accomplish the offset structure of the various levels.
Overall, I enjoyed building this set alone. It really has no "play value" as it is just a display piece. I enjoyed this build enough that I did later purchase the larger Statue of Liberty sets to go with it.

New York, New York!

Although I've never been to New York itself, the city has always fascinated me from a very young age (through films and even through Lego itself). This model in the Architecture series is delightful, both in the building experience and in the final product for display. I built it leisurely, spending about an hour or less for each building, building one each day until complete. The Empire State Building is a very clever and realistic detailed component, and the Chrysler Building is also very good (its clear plastic bricks catch the light and make the building look lit up in the daytime). The relative heights of the buildings make for a convincing skyline model, and the final set is a good advert for making me want to visit the city for real. The other sets currently available look good, and I wish to congratulate Lego for making these skyline models so attractive and reasonably priced.

Really enjoyed building this model would recommend it to any one. It didn't take me to long to build but I find once it is built it looks really effective and has good detail for people to know and see what the buildings are straight away.
I liked the book which came with it which tells you a little bit about all of the buildings.

Great set, but could've been even better if...

Honestly, this is a great little set, but the issue I had with it was that instead of numbered bags to go building by building, this set is packaged in several bags of totally mixed up parts. On sets that are this small in size, it's a lot of very small pieces (1x1's, 2x1's, etc) and the build could've been way more enjoyable had they just been packaged 1 or 2 bags per building.
That said, don't hesitate to pick up this set for yourself or as a gift... I received mine as a gift and I must admit it's a great addition to the Architecture lineup! While a few reviewers don't like the Statue of Liberty mini figure, personally, I think it's a quirky/fun touch by Lego. Speaking of the Statue of Liberty, that might have to be my next set. :)
I would add videos, but once again, the website turns my pics sideways. :|

Great build but instructions error

I bought this for my son. He enjoyed the build but there was an instructions error as I’ve seen mentioned in a previous review of this product in 2019. I assumed the instructions error would be fixed by now but it’s still there. My son ended up realizing it was an error and got through it, but it did cause him some frustration. He enjoys the set though!! We are a Lego family so I know this isn’t the usual circumstance.

Having just returned from New York, I was keen to get my hands on this build. I really enjoyed it. I love the Architecture Skyline range and this was my favourite. The Empire State Building is fabulous and i loved the mini Flatiron. One World Trade was really enjoyable too. I will build this set again and again!

I got this set as a souvenir and was really excited to start building. It took me about 2 hours to build and was pretty sturdy. The only problem I had was the Statue of Liberty doesn't Look any thing like the real statue. Other than that one problem it's a great set! Thanks Lego!

Love it!

I love it! I went to New York for vacation so after I built it i placed it on top of the chimney to display it with my other New York souvenirs. The Lady Liberty is super small though I feel like it can get easily lost. I think she should have been a little bigger and should have been carrying the book n the torch it would be a lot better but I still love it!
