My kids love we I make the BB8 sounds and swivel his head about. The elastic used to a simple put magical effect to bring life to this LEGO model. It was an easy but enjoyable build. I little repetitive but I liked working with the contrasting white and orange. Once I had the ball shape created for the body I couldn't help but to throw it up and down and catch for a while admiring how sturdy it is. A surprising lot of pieces go into the head.
The final result is compact but very cool. Something about making round object in LEGO is very satisfying. Very good model and great to play and display

Perfect. Compact once completed, brick-orientated, great working features, decent VFM, no drawbacks or shortcomings. One of my favourite Lego builds of all time.

Awesome display piece!

I chose this over the First Order Star Destroyer set, as I thought this would be a lot easier to display, and a lot more enjoyable (due to me being a HUGE fan of BB-8), and it was a heck of a lot cheaper as well! Ever since I saw it in the Holiday catalog I was hooked.
Overall, it was very enjoyable to build. (I listened to a TV show while I built it). It was somewhat challenging due to the amount of small pieces, but was very enjoyable, so enjoyable in fact, I finished it in one night! (Stayed up till 1:30 am. RIP sleep schedule!).
It was amazing to see this build come to life. The rubber band and the un-secure gear system really makes it some to life. With the gear system not being locked in place, it allows for the head to wobble around, and for it to move back and forth when turning the head with the knob on the left side.
The torch is also a nice added touch, all though it would be a lot better if it extended a bit more, and was a bit more vertical, but it’s fine the way it is. I can’t be too nit picky about it, Haha!
This set is VERY hard to play with, as it does not roll or move easily. If you want to buy a Star Wars set that is easy to play with, I would recommend some of the smaller sets, or the Star Fighter sets (Like Poe’s X-Wing Fighter, TIE Silencer, and the Microfighter sets). ^(Thought that might be helpful to some buyers...)^
This set was an amazing experience for me and was the most fun I have had with LEGO. (This was the first set I built with atleast 1000 pieces, as when I got my R2D2, it was a bit too difficult for me because I was pretty young, so my dad built it for me).
Overall, I recommend this to anyone who is a Star Wars fan and loves this little spherical robot. This was an amazing value for what you get. 1000+ piece Star Wars LEGO set that didn’t beat up the wallet, and it’s BB-8!
Sorry that I had to write an entire novel to review this, but there is so much good to say about this set, and little bad. I wanted to make an in-depth review to help buyers out! This is the perfect set for someone who wants to be challenged, but not too much.

The droid I was looking for

Never given a review on here before but I definitely think the BB8 deserves one.. firstly it's a sphere and ball shapes are notoriously difficult to replicate using Lego bricks but the designers have nailed it here! The head rotating and wobbling at the same time is so movie accurate it makes you feel as though he's actually come to life! The slide out thumbs up of the torch is smooth and accurate and looks fantastic. Overall this little guy is well worthy of a spot on display in any room.. I am not surprised one bit that the product has gone into 'backorder' status. Get one on order now whilst you can
Great job Lego!

Sadly I do not own this set myself but my mom got it as she loves BB-8, I may break it apart and build it "shhh don't tell her" ;). Value for money is good but it does look small for the price, less than 10p per brick which is always nice. It does have some fun features like the thumbs up and the head movement, for a UCS. Very accurate to the droid in the film, and her plush toy!

Love BB-8 can't get enough. I have to be honest my husband built it for me it didn't take him long. He says it was very easy and had no problems or missing pieces. Can't wait until BB-9 comes out!

Best Lego Set Yet!

It was a bit smaller than expected based on the box photos, but well worth it overall. It was challenging with some of the sides, and the flame mechanism was a little unclear because it only goes out at an angle rather than straight like it shows. The head movement is awesome and reminds me of BB-8 in the movie. I only wish it could roll some way rather than be stationary in the stand, but I would still rank this as my one of my favorite Star Wars Lego sets. If you are going to buy one from the new movie series - I would recommend this one. I would say ages 10 and up should handle the complexity fine - with some patience and help.
If you are thinking of buying it - just do it. You won't regret it after you build it and see the motion/movement of it.
