Great sound, great gadget but one annoying thing

I bought this product in Europe where it it’s already on the market. As expected, the sound is great, connectivity super easy and switching between phone calls and music is seamless. For sound in a personal space, it’s ideal. I also like the fact I can walk around the house with the sound near but not in my ears. Quite a new experience.
But there is one annoying thing. There is no way to switch off the product quietly! JBL has a fixed, loud, disconnect sound that seemingly can’t be changed. Made me jump a mile after listening to music quietly in bed for 40 minutes. So much for relaxing before sleeping.
Suggestion to product development: as this is a personal sound product, no need to have a sound so loud the room can hear when switching off. This sound should be at the same volume that the product is being listened to.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent and safer alternative to headphones!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was intrigued upon first hearing about the JBL Soundgear...even though it meant having some speakers hanging by my neck. After thoroughly using the Soundgear around the house and even during some errands and walks in the park, I can say I have come around. The Soundgear creates this personal surround sound atmosphere, allowing you to listen to your music and take calls hands-free while you work or play. The build quality is very good, though I would think a little more flexibility in the joints would be welcome. I think JBL is on to something here, since the Soundgear could make listening to music safer in some instances, like when biking, allowing your music to be heard but also letting you keep an open ear for sounds of trouble, sirens, horns, etc. This would obviously not be for everyone but I think plenty of people will find the Soundgear useful and enjoyable. Also the fact that you're not pumping high-volume sound directly into your ear canal has to be a plus, keeping your ears safe from sound-induced damage.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I actually thought the idea of it was dumb. Maybe it's because I don't play any VR games, or maybe it's because everything is getting lighter and smaller and this is not. Out of the box, setting up the Bluetooth was easy and the sound was really good. It doesn't have a ton of low end, but I didn't expect it since it doesn't form a sealed enclosure around your ears like earbuds or headphones.
I had some work to do around the outside of the house and figured out immediately that this wasn't a dumb idea at all and I actually loved it. You can listen to music (or anything over BT) and do what you need to do while still hearing what's going on around you. I wouldn't recommend this for sports since it wouldn't stay put, but there are a million everyday uses for it.
It does phone calls well, but it may not be right for everyone since the calls are not private.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Really nice quality sound with nice features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the soundgear for free about one week ago and was amazed with how well you can hear the music from it while wearing it around your neck. The sound quality however came as no surprise because I already own two flip 4s a charge 3 and even put two pairs of jbl 609c gto Grand Touring component speakers in my sons car and the sound quality of all are really nice. It's really funny that I received the soundgear for free because It caught my eye some months ago when JBL first showed pictures of it on their website. jbl's becoming more well known these days because of their consistent sound quality!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL Soundgear might be a unique product, but it is also a very good product. First of all the build quality is very good, the speaker feels very sturdy and durable. The Soundgear also features a rubberized bottom to keep it comfortable and in place on your neck. With a few hours of continued usage I didn't feel and discomfort. Also the controls along the bottoms of both sides are very easy to use, if you hold down on the volume up or down key you can skip forward or back a track, and holding down on the play/pause button will activate your phones AI assistant. The most important feature of the Soundgear is the sound of course and JBL definitely delivered. The sound is very clear and has a nice punchy bass thanks to the dual bass ports located along the top. I find that the Soundgear gets plenty loud enough, I even wore it while riding an ATV and it still sounded loud and clear. Personally I will be using my Soundgear mainly for gaming, because the surround sound effect is just amazing it literally sounds like I'm wearing extremely expensive headphones with the freedom and comfortably of having my ears uncovered. There are only two things that bothered me enough to give it a 4/5 instead of 5/5.First it's a little hard to get the Soundgear on and off my neck (personal problem) when it's on though it fits fine. The main reason for me giving the product a 4/5 is I feel the battery is slightly lacking, 6 hours is fine for most gaming sessions, but I feel like 10 hours is what the Soundgear should have. All in all this is a really great addition to the JBL family of products and I highly recommend it, especially for gamers and VR users.

The design and innovative sound and look are AMAZING! LEAVE IT TO JBL TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX...VERY COMFORTABLE AROUND THE NECK AND SHOULDERS!!! TO BE ABLE TO LISTEN TO MUSIC, MOVIES TO TALK TO ANOTHER PERSON AND NOT HAVING TO COVER YOUR EARS WHILE USING THIS AMAZING SOUNDGEAR IS GREAT. THANK U JBL FOR SUCH GREAT SOUND PRODUCTS, I HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF ALL YOUR SPEAKERS AND HOME AUDIO!...I FEEL VERY FORTUNATE & LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO REVIEW SUCH AWESOME PRODUCTS FOR YOU GUYS!!!
