Too many limitations
on March 14, 2017

The software is not suitable for tax filers living outside the US. There is no form 8833 available, which is a very simple form, and the form 8938 is not implemented properly. There is no guidance to help fill in the form and the requirement to add a complete new 8938 form to add additional accounts is not the way it should be done - not the way the IRS implements "continuation sheets".
I have used online tax programs to e-file my return and those of two family members for many years (since e-filing has been available) and this is the first year I have ever had a return rejected b the IRS (and the code from the IRS offers no suggestion as to what is the error), and I will now have to mail the return.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Pain in the butt

I had a simple return that required a payment and it was a pain to get a simple return filed and make a payment. I still don't know if it's gone through. I get confirmations but the money still hasn't come out of the account. I go back and try to figure out what's happened and I figure out what's happened or hasn't happened.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to fix issues, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

After filing my return, I recieved the letter from IRS telling my that I was not eligible for my IRA deduction. The HR Block did not catch this and now the IRS wants another $5600. Either we are not eligible or the software did not make the proper statements to show that we are eligible.
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to fix issues
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to import
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bad experience regarding dependents

The tax software failed to review the five tests for a dependent used by the IRS and missed the fact that our daughter earned too much money in 2014 to qualify as a dependent despite the fact that she lived with us more than half the year and is financially still very much dependent on us. The IRS rejected our return and we thought the rejection was due to identity theft because of the way the rejection was worded. We had to visit the IRS office to resolve the issue and discover that our daughter no longer qualifies as a dependent because her income was greater that the maximum allowed for a dependent.
Cons: Hard to fix issues
Pros: Easy to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
