Locking malfunction

I assembled for a client and lock does not work properly. I’ve read 2 other reviews with similar issues and per Manufacturer response...I did install shelves correctly. What does the position of a shelf have anything to do with a locking mechanism not working properly. Any inactive door, in this situation the left door, must have at least a head or foot bolt, if not both, to secure in place so when the active door latches to it, they cannot be pulled open. As another review says, when the key is inserted and the lock is turned to engage, the key cannot be removed. Please explain to me in detail what I may be missing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

On page 4, there is a section that states Install Shelves, "IMPORTANT: Use the pair of holes located in the middle of the cabinet sides to install a center shelf without the magnet (P5), so the doors will lock. The other two shelves with magnet (P5m) may be installed where desired." The paddle on the back side of the lock, does not lock with the left door. The lock only rotates from 6 o'clock position to 12 o'clock position. The shelf without the magnet will have a cutout slot where the paddle goes into, that way the cabinet will lock. If you have any other questions, please call Gladiator at (866) 342-4089 Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (EST).

Gladiator Garage Works- Awesome Storage

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently got this for my husband and I am very impressed. It comes ready to assemble and is massive in size measuring 48 in W by 18 in D by 72 in tall. My husband rated assembly difficulty as a 5 or 6, not super easy but nod super hard either if you know what your are doing. It features 1 fixed and 2 adjustable shelves allowing different heights depending on your needs. The adjustable leveler legs stabilize the cabinet Made of solid and durable steel construction making it a cabinet sure to last for years. My husband is what I call a hoarder, especially when it comes to his garage. This gearbox is going to be a life saver helping him get all of his garage stuff stored and organized. It will hold all of his odds and ends such as bags of concrete and paint on the bottom shelves and power tools and extra batteries, home renovation supplies and a host of other hodge podge miscellaneous items he has to save and store in our garage. A nice bonus is the lock and key making sure your items are kept are and secure. If you are serious about garage organization and storage I would highly recommend this Gearbox.

Easy to put together, super sturdy and holds a lot

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Took about 1 hour to put together. Instructions were simple and clear. Once the frame and back were put on, it was very sturdy. The only thing I needed a second person for was putting in the shelves. It looks nice and is perfect for my 2 1/2 car garage. It was a simple process. The bottom has a leveling function that was really appreciated when it was all done. Wish I had 2 of these.

Perfect for storage

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Gladiator Garageworks Ready-to-Assemble Extra Large GearBox is ideal to store the items I originally had on shelves in my garage. It is very sturdy and well constructed. I like the option of adding more shelves but the items I'll be adding are large and the one shelf provided works well. Assembly was easy and took me less than an hour. Very pleased with this product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Ready-to-Assemble Extra Large GearBox is a really sturdy storage unit. I am able to store a lot in it and store somewhat heavy stuff. The Ready-to-Assemble Extra Large GearBox seems sturdy and well built. I have s lot of tools and other things that I have putting inside it and I will continue to add stuff until full. I really recommend this unit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love this Gearbox! It is very well made, sturdy to a tee! I love that it has magnetized doors and the lock is critical to me to keep curious little kids OUT of it! Plenty of shelving to keep me organized much more than I am now! The size is perfect for where we needed it in the garage. It was relatively easy to assemble although two people is best to assemble it. But the directions were easy to understand and we had it assembled in less than one hour. I love the look of it and the quality is very well made. I have no doubt that it will be a great asset in my garage and will last for years! I would definitely recommend this product to anybody that is looking for a well made product for their garage!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this to clean up our garage. It holds a ton of stuff and easy to see and get at. My garage looks like a professional upgrade. They are strong and easy to put together , as we followed instructions and youtube videos. The instructions suggest that you need two people, and its true you would see. It took us about 2.5hrs to complete. My wife read the directions while I assisted. Some of the directions seemed a little out of order in my opinion but otherwise easy to read and follow. It seem sturdy. I would say be prepared to be creative.

Very large Cabinet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the extra large cabinet and I'm really satisfied at how much fits in there. The assembly was easy enough for just me but I had my daughter help me with lifting it up. It's my favorite piece to look at in my garage. It feels like a strong cabinet that will outlast others. I really love the diamond plate doors and having a lock is very handy for storing more expensive items. Over all, it's a great piece and I will be adding more to finish the look I want to achieve.
