I was very excited to finally find a useful tablet to replace my 2013 Nexus 7. The price was right and the specs were good for the Tab 4 8 plus. The screen is great as well, very bright and nice high resolution for an 8 inch - so hard to find anything 1080p in 8 inches or less these days. However, the performance is very inconsistent. Since we can only buy the 2GB RAM/16GB ROM option in North America we're stuck with a middling performer that is very sluggish. Performance actually seems better at first but with only 2GB RAM, as soon as you open another program things slow down dramatically. Loading times get laggy, games lag, or take a while to load, etc. I hope they can come up with an update that has better memory management. I also have a very fast 64GB microSD card installed as additional storage and have read that that may slow things down, which is unacceptable because we're stuck with 16GB storage for the NA model. Hard to recommend this product unless a software udpate solves the lag issues. Shouldn't be a problem on Android 7, even with 2 GB RAM. Not sure if Oreo would do a better job or not but I'm a little disappointed. Its not terrible for the price, or for kids, but it is not the Nexus 7 replacement I had hoped for. I mean come on that came out in 2013 and 5 years later we still don't have a small tab replacement....not all of us want 6 inch or larger phones and think 7 or 8 inch tabs are too small. Size is perfect, please fix the performance.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

After receiving today, I found that 64GB nor 128GB cards will work. Only 32GB sdcards are recognized. Searching for a resolution I found this is typical of this tablet.
