Not worth the extra money

Coming from a 5 year old Epson into this projector, I would have to say not to spend the extra money for this unit. First, Epson's blacks are better to the eye. Secondly, and more importantly, the Epson did a far better job at upscaling older/lower quality dvds than this unit. It seems the JVC is heavily marketed with questionable reviews (I am not compensated for my review, nor do I sell these products) and tries too hard to upscale with far too many settings. The end result in 65 to 70% of the cases is a heavily noisy (grainy) picture. And that is after attempting many different configurations in the units control menu. Initially, we thought there was a problem with the unit, but after having a factory rep come, look and calibrate it, we are still not overly impressed. The 4K e-shift, in my humble opinion (as a 15 year projector user and helping friends and family choose equip) is little improvement over a good projector playing a high quality bluray. In fact, some of the 4k results with this projector are worse.
In short, there are a lot of projector options out there that will outperform this one for an equal or less investment. If you have a demo done as we did, take your own older DVDs and new BluRays in to be demo'd, that was our mistake, we bought this based on viewing the store's discs.
