Great taste but not built to last

We've owned this machine for two years and have gotten many compliments from guests on the great taste of this coffee. However the machine's electronics have folded and it won't stop boiling the water and never reaches the next step of starting the pour process. You would think Kitchenaid would build quality that lasts.

First and foremost, this makes great coffee. That said, there are a few negatives. The heating plate automatically shuts off and cannot be turned back on without going through the brewing process again. This model doesn't include programability either. If you're considering this model, check out the KCM0802OB instead

Don't waste your money

I received this as a gift a few weeks ago and am thoroughly disappointed. It brews inconsistent amounts of coffee and takes an inconsistent amount of time for each brew cycle. The result - it's impossible to fine tune your brew. Even if it was consistent, it brews too fast, despite the fact that some engineer designed it to pour, pause, pour, pause... to obtain the perfect cup. For example, it brews 3 cups in under 2 minutes. You will never get anything other than mediocre to bad coffee from this waste of money.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor design of machine. It is very hard to read the water level. Wish the warming plate would stay on longer.

Great coffee, but some problems

When you get this to work properly, it sure does make a great cup of coffee.
Our issue is that occasionally we'll set up the machine before bed, and then wake up to find half the water has leaked out into the pot, through the grounds. It doesn't happen consistently, but it sure is inconvenient.

Great coffee

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this coffee maker in the past 3 weeks. So far it is exactly what I hoped for in making great coffee by soaking the grounds slowly. It greatly reduced the amount of coffee I need to use and the taste is rich and strong. My only negative is it’s size. It is very tall, so I move it out from under the cabinet to make coffee so I can pour in water and not steam the cabinet while it brews. I’m sure they could make it shorter. Otherwise, a great coffee maker.

Brewer leaked right out of the box.

Purchased 3 days ago. Every time water is added to the unit whether it is 2 cups or 8 it begins to leak cold water into the basket before it is even turned on. Very disappointed in what I thought would be a quality made product considering the price point.
