Never thought I would be an LG fan

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been a die hard Motorola phone owner since day one of owning a smart phone. I don't like the direction Motorola is going now that they got bought out by Lenovo. My three choices of phone were Samsung Galaxy s8, iPhone X or the LG v30. I chose the v30 to give the underdog a chance and I'm glad I did! Phone is super fast even with multiple apps and games running. The screen is crystal clear and has vivid colors and dark blacks like an oled should. The camera is untouchable by the other phones. Manual mode is my favorite camera feature and I'll be using it a lot next summer at car shows. And the battery lasts 2 days on a full charge. I'm glad I chose this phone over the others and can't wait to see what updates come with it in the years to come.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Its been a month since ive had this phone and I couldnt be happier with it. It takes great pictures and video. The part that surprised me most, however, was the battery life. I haven't had to recharge my v30 once throughout the course of the day. I get about 4-5 hours of screen-on time using Google maps constantly along with a few other work related apps.

Killer Audio! Not-So-Killer Pictures...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had my V30 for over a month, and so far I have been VERY impressed with most of the features. I did my research, of course, and knew what I was getting into, but the following are stand-outs that really, truly make this a phone worth buying over competing premium cellphone offerings:
-An unexpected superstar feature of this phone is the fingerprint scanner/power button- the thing is placed PERFECTLY, and is very responsive. A friend with the V20 tried to talk about this sublime button placement, but I didn't really get it until I bought the V30 and started using it. My forefinger just naturally goes to that exact spot, and before I know it, I've instinctively unlocked the phone before I'm even looking at it.
-The main reason I bought the phone was for the headphone jack (!) with its quad DAC, and wow, it delivers in spades. I'm a hardcore audiophile, and the thought of having a Hi Fi Digital Audio Player and phone in one was most appealing. I've done testing with the DAC on and off, and with it enabled and with good headphones and FLAC music files, the music quality is incredible. I highly doubt there's a phone out there with better audio. Even the speakerphone sounds amazing! It's all subjective, of course, and requires good source files and headphone equipment, but I have all of those, and even without a golden ear I can confirm this phone sounds THAT good.
-The P-OLED screen is gorgeous. I don't seem to have the uneven lighting issues others have reported, so I guess YMMV... Also, the almost bezel-less design allows for a form factor that is easier to hold in one hand than past "phablets" I've owned, even with a large screen. I am an adult male who has tiny girl hands, and I can more easily and comfortably hold this phone in one hand than my previous "phablet."
-The wide-angle front- and back-facing cameras are cool, and surprisingly useful. In fact, I've already found both to be necessary, once when shooting vistas on a hike, and a few times for group selfies!
-Tap to wake the screen? Awesome.
-Speed to open and switch between apps? Outstanding.
-I like the on-screen replacement for the second screen. It can be turned on or off, and I have it on, but I'll be honest, I don't use it very much.
And, of course, there are some negatives to be aware of:
-The biggest disappointment is the camera, specifically for shooting stills. The video IS good, perhaps very good, but for all the hype of a glass lens cover and the "largest aperture ever on a cellphone camera," this camera is merely OK, and doesn't really own low-light photography the way I had hoped. It simply can't hold a candle to the hardware and software magic of the other phones that are better known for their cameras (you know, the usual suspects). But, I get great video and very good pics of my rambunctious three-year-old without needing a DSLR, so I gotta be honest, this isn't a deal-breaker for me.
-Do I get blue tint when viewing the screen at an angle? Yup. Just confirming, I don't actually care that much...
-Wireless "fast" charging isn't really all that fast, as I guess the higher power wireless charging pads aren't supported. Still, it's a nice feature/gimmick. Know what would've been nicer? A removable battery! But, ce la vie.
-This uses USB-C for charging. Just know that, if you're like me, you'll need to replace a bunch of existing chargers...
Overall, this phone fills a niche or two that other phones don't, and that's excatly why I got it and am very, very happy with it. It'll make even Spotify sound better (Extreme quality only, of course). It'll take shots of large families and the Grand Canyon better than any other phone I know, with little-to-no distortion. You don't need a stupid dongle for headphones with a 3.5mm jack. And it's a beautiful piece of hardware.
Just know that for budding cellphone photographers, this WILL lose in head-to-head photo comparisons with other premium phones. Just not by much!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great features, especially DAC/audio and Camera. I especially like that I can use my high end head phones and use the DAC. Battery lasts whole day with heavy usage. Still exploring camera functionality, but so far amazing. Having fun.

Overall fantastic phone!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Upgraded from the V10. The speaker is great, screen is fantastic, the battery is long-lasting, and I recently got to test out the camera on a trip and it performed wonderfully. I believe this phone needs a lot more recognition than it is getting currently.
