Terrible Motor Performance

We bought this dishwasher 2 years ago. We read reviews and it was highly recommended. We were willing to spend a bit more to have a quality dishwasher.We have since had to have the motor replaced on THREE separate occasions. Conveniently, it was under warranty the first two times but since that time we have had to spend in the area of $400 for repairs. One of our repairmen stated that this seems to be a general problem with this dishwasher....the motors consistently go out. Please DO NOT buy this dishwasher unless you love doing dishes by hand while you wait for the repairman to schedule you in!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great for places where depth of the install space is limited

Our sewer line runs along the back of the dishwasher space. Due to some unusual factors, moving the plumbing would be expensive. We needed a dishwasher that would fit the limited depth of the space. After looking at dozens of models and reviewing specs online, we choose the Whirlpool WDF550SAFS. It is, literally, the only model we found that would not stick out beyond the countertop. The only downside is that it is has a 'standard' capacity (not 'tall') and doesn't fit as many dishes.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Works great, then starts falling apart.

We bought this dishwasher to replace the old one that came with the house. It was nice at the beginning because it was quiet and cleaned everything so well. As the years went on, the arms where the water came out got clogged, which we cleaned. But then some of the arms were melting. The bottom rack slowly started losing the wheels. As of right now, we have no wheels. Then the prongs on the bottom rack started melting and breaking off. We looked to get the bottom part replaced, but its just as expensive as a new dishwasher.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Want my old Whirlpool back!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is ok but not as big as my old one plus I like the silverware holder on the door. This holder takes up too much room. Also the bottom rack does not push in smoothly. I would not buy it again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had to buy this smaller dishwasher. Only comes with stainless interior so was more expensive than I anticipated. Racks feel flimsy and area for silverware will not hold large spoons, spatulas etc. I would not buy again.

Nice dishwasher!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this dishwasher a month ago. The stainless steel exterior is nice looking. It is easy to use and simple features. It can be heard when running but is not too loud that it bothers me. The utensil basket is plastic and has 3 sections but comes apart too easily which I do not like. The capacity is smaller than I am used to using. Overall a nice dishwasher but wish it has larger capacity, Howe we we had to go with this model bc it fit our space.
I would recommend this to a friend!
