Cools the room so far

I've had this unit in a kitchen window for several weeks and it has quickly and adequately cooled the room and dropped the humidity even if not left on all day.
My kitchen is about 350 sq. ft. and the outside temps during the day have been in the low 80s to high 90s F. I usually set the t-stat on the AC between 73-75*F and use the Auto Sense function.
This unit replaced a Sharp 12K BTU unit that failed after only 3 years of ownership and less than 6 months worth of intermittent use during that time. Unfortunately, despite the sealed system being covered under warranty, the labor to replace the parts was going to be nearly as much as a whole new unit.
Ironically, the Sharp and Frigidaire are nearly identical in construction with some slight differences in features. The remotes are interchangeable except that this Frigidaire has a LCD t-stat display and remote sense whereas the Sharp does not.
My primary hope is that this Frigidaire lasts for more than 3 seasons. I take exceptional care of my ACs, frequently clean them out (filters, cases, and fins) and store them inside my house during the cold season in the same orientation as they sit in the windows.
I wish the directional fins were a bit more precise. The plastic is pretty rigid, so take care when opening the front to clean the filter and operate the air direction fins.
Frigidaire also included a confusing warranty extension brochure of Window AC units that indicate they'll extend the warranty for more money, but the unit already has a warranty period that is beyond that of what the brochure conveys. It was very confusing and despite a call and email to Fridgidaire/Electrolux, it wasn't really clarified. The extended warranty information on their websites didn't coincide or even mention anything about what this brochure was offering.
Basically, they'll take more of your money and good luck getting warranty repair after the standard warranty is over.
We looked at all of the other available brands of 12k BTU ACs and the majority of them all had issues from many reviewers. So, short of spending more money on central or ductless, it's kind of a turkey-shoot as far as durability with these window ACs. The quality of the components has certain degraded. I have 15 year old Kenmore 5000 BTU units that are still working fine. I'm sure the current crop of units won't last anywhere near as long, but you can go buy a new 15 year old unit, so you can only pick the least bad option.

This Window Unit Does It All!

I love this air-conditioner so much that this is the second one that I've purchased. I put the one that I bought last year up in my son's attic bedroom where it gets very, very hot, and this new one I installed in my man cave. The unit purifies the air nicely, lets you know when it's time to clean the filter, allows you to remotely control the temperature, and it really cools the house extremely efficiently.

It's ok however, there is a silver mark the size of a large button on the outside of the unit. It was delivered with this defect. The delivery man it was nothing but I am still concerned can you tell me what causes this?

A good purchase

I live in a condo in a converted Victorian. I wasn't sure if this would work with my high ceilings and open space. It did a great job! It really made the place so much more comfortable! I gave it 4 stars as I wish it was a bit quieter. Other than that it is a great unit.

I'm not a huge air conditioner user (I'm always the chilly one) but knowing the high temps and humidity that were coming this summer I knew I needed an air conditioner for my rental apt. This a/c unit works fine. The size, price and BTUs were what I needed. I think it's kind of loud. And it's constantly going off/on with the energy saver setting, and it's really noticeable because when it's on, you really hear it so the back and forth of it going off/on is pretty noticeable. It cools of my living room well and between the a/c and the floor fan in my bedroom I'm comfortable (my apt is approx 800 sq ft). For most people this might not be enough, but I didn't want an a/c unit in my bedroom as it would be blowing directly at my bed and I wouldn't like that.

In this energy saver mode, the fan will continue to run for 1 minute after the compressor turns off. The fan then cycles on for 20 seconds at 10 minute intervals until the room temperature is above the set temperature, at which time the compressor turns back on.
