The unit iced up and leaked freon

Woke up to a hot room and the unit making a funny noise, got up to turn off the unit and opened the front to find a sheet of ice and a dead unit. Very dissatisfying!

Disappointment

We purchased this unit and placed it in our bedroom window.
From the first day the unit produced a high pitch squealing noise when the compressor turns on. This is the worst air conditioner I have ever purchased.

Buy only if you hate your neighbor

The compressor on this unit makes a high pitched chirping sound that radiates in all directions from the outside portion of the air conditioner. This noise is guaranteed to upset your neighbor. Other manufacturers at least mention this in their user manuals and instruct owners not to install the unit facing the neighbor's home. Of course this is not very realistic and it appears that all the mfrs now use cheap rotary compressors that are more efficient but that generate this high pitched noise.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

There is a loud squeezing noise when the fan is on high cool. It causes major headaches. It cools very well until the room hits the set temperature. Then the loud squeeze fan blows in all the moisture. Thus ensuring a cold sweat and probable sickness.

NOT COOLING AS WELL

I've been using this brand new window a/c for a month now. On the low speed it cooled well but has a loud crackling noise. The noise is less on the medium speed. Also, I was able to cool my bedroom on the low speed but now I have to use the medium speed. Why would a brand new a/c stop cooling as well on low speed & why is there a loud crackling sound only on the low speed?
