I just got this trash compactor yesterday. I love that it does not have any handles up at the top of the drawer. It has no knobs on the outside and I love that.

While this compactor does the job it is not the same quality as the one that broke after 20+ years. My old one had a button compress and allowed for an extended time of compaction. This new one is once and done and does not "compact" with the same strength as the old one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

day after installation, barely touched foot pedal, unit opened barely and stuck, would not respond to foot pedal anymore because foot petal loose just hangs down. called for service, not available until Saturday (4 days after event). took 2 separate service workers, 2nd one had to disassemble lots of parts to get to basket, found out the part that compacts the garbage was stuck in downward position. were able to restore unit to functional state. 1 week after repairs, unit functioning normally.
I would recommend this to a friend!
