After suffering through 3 summers of a scorching hot house we broke down and bought this LG Air Conditioner.
While it only cools our living room to a very, very cool 60 degrees the rest of the upstairs did cool of a bit.
It made our lives much more tolerable in the heat and I was very surprised when the power bill arrived. I had been dreading a high bill, but with the air conditioner going for 16 hours a day and all the fans on in the house it wasn't bad at all. Very energy efficient!!!!!
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased unit 3.5 months ago do to the master bedroom was extremely toasty. Brought it home and set it up with no issues. Now in 98 degree weather and high humidity here in Florida it will bring the room down to the low,70's to high 60's in no time. In the drying function we freeze and have to turn it down or off late at night. Bless the remote! Not all that noisey either..less that most window units. This unit made me a hero to my wife....Yea!

Im not sure what you are expecting

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have two of these units as part of several brands that we own due to losing our house AC in the middle of August in Florida several years back. All of the units were instrumental in keeping us cool. They again saved us during hurricane IRMA. Are they perfect? Heck no!! Do they work as expected? Heck yes!!! Are they loud? Yup!!! It is perfect white noise. People who are writing negative reviews have expectations that a portable AC unit would never meet. Some of the negative reviews also reflect folks who don't understand how AC works or that this type of unit has to be sized to the space it is going to be used in no different than a whole house AC unit. Portable AC units are a temporary fix for what should be a temporary problem. Depending where you live and the then current humidity level will determine how much water is being expelled by exhaust and how much needs to be draining into a container (just like a whole house AC unit) . I am in Florida and again without AC in the middle of August. Why - because the level of pride and ownership is extremely hard to find in this country anymore. Now back to the product. We empty water that is draining into pans from the two LG units every 8 hours. We also dump water from every other portable AC unit in the house. I would estimate about 3 - 6 gallons a day. THIS IS EXPECTED!!!! THIS IS HOW AC WORKS!!!! It removes the humidity (WATER). If it didn't you would potentially grow mold along with all kinds of other issues and NEVER BE COMFORTABLE. We currently have 5 portable AC units, 6 fans and 2 dehumidiifers running to keep a 2300 sq. ft. one stry home tolerable while I wait for someone who cares about fixing my whole house unit. Is it perfect - not even close. What other options do we have??? Then add in COVID19 which is causing a major global supply chain disruption and we have a recipe for disaster. I have several products from LG, have always been happy with them. They have been reliable and functional. This is my 2 cents (that I will be contributing to help with the coin shortage)
Pros: easy to use

Better Than Nothing At All

I only recommend because it is better than not having any AC at all when it is so hot and humid. But, this unit is lacking in many areas. First of all if this is supposed to be portable than why doesn't it come with a slider for the window with another hole in it for the vent. You have to secure the window sliders with insulation around for a snug fit so you can't just keep removing them in order to move the unit to another room. It would be much easier to have the slider with the hole for the vent in two separate windows and that would make this truly portable, just having to remove the expandable hose to move the unit to another window. Second thing would be the water removal. What a headache to say the least. I for one cannot find a pan shallow yet deep enough to drain the water out. I use my small yet shallow frying pan which doesn't hold much water so I then plug the thing back up empty the frying pan into a much deeper pot and then repeat until all water is drained. The other night I forgot to replace the plug and had the unit running which left water all over the carpeting. I am 67 years young and this is just too much of a hassle for my liking. There is another plug in the middle of the unit which is supposed to drain the water when using the dehumidify but no hose is provided. If I found a hose that would fit I would use this one with a pail alongside for continuous drainage. I would like to know why these things, extra slider with hole for vent, drainage hose and pan, are not provided with this unit since these are in my opinion integral parts for it and would make it much more user friendly. Thirdly, the unit is so noisy when watching TV it has to be turned up quite a bit. I almost had my son return it for this reason, but thankfully I did get used to the noise. And lastly, I don't understand the temperature setting on this because even when the set temperature is reached it keeps running whereas I believed it would turn off and then resume running after the temperature got higher. But this thing just keeps running and running unless you shut it off yourself. Can't wait to see what my electric bill is going to be.

Good for a year

Bought the unit and it works decently. My apartment is less than 350sqft and it helps but doesn't totally cool the place off. When it works it works well enough. Easy to use. But after the warranty stops, then yep...no good. The compressor in mine and the cooling core are not talking to each other. Even after maintenance. The air it blows isn't not cold. The compressor doesn't make that "Brrroooowww" sound when it turns it turns on, and only half the vent blows cooler air.
Draining the thing is terrible. It's heavy, awkward and make no sense, while having 2 ports to take water out is excellent and useful, you have to tip the thing, while holding it OVER something. At this weight it isn't a good design.
Pros: Style/Design, ease of use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
