my old ac unit died this summer at the hottest time of the season. i bought this new 10000 btu frigidaire and my 4th floor apartment suddenly became pleasurable again. it is quiet while delivering plenty of cooling power. i think it looks pretty nice too. and i was surprised to discover that it has the ability to measure the temperature in a different part of the room and adjust accordingly. i would heartily recommend this unit to anyone looking for a new efficient window air conditioner

Purchased for use in a one bedroom apartment. Mounted in living room window. Runs quietly and efficiently. Keeps entire apartment cool. Very good value for the money.

I have had this unit going for about a month, with no problems. There are a few things I love about this A/C, and a few that I don't.
Loved these features:
* Removable front cover: Surprisingly, the two previous air conditioners I have owned (different brand) did not have this feature, and it was difficult to clean as a result. I think you should be able to take these things completely apart. Over the years, air conditioners get so much build up from the junk floating in the air, it would be nice to be able to get that stuff out.
* Air vent adjustability: You can point the blowing air in virtually any direction, and they actually work! In my other a/c units in the past, the vents must have been just for show because no matter where you pointed them, it always blew straight out.
* Fresh air option: It's nice to have the option to change out the air in the room without opening windows and getting a room full of bugs.
Didn't like these things:
* All my previous a/c units have had the ability to set a temperature range. For example, if you set it to 68 with a range of 2 degrees, it will turn on at 70, and turn off at 66. This a/c turns off and on constantly. I am surprised they were able to get the energy star label without that. It's much more efficient when you can set a range.
* Noisy! Not deafening, but considerably louder than my past a/c units.
* The beep is ear piercing!! If I change the settings or turn it off or on at night, everyone is woken up. Maybe this could be adjustable?
I might buy another one of these down the road if I need a replacement, but would prefer one with a better design.

Great features, poor design!

I purchased three of this Frigidaire but as soon as I opened the first box I found that you changed the basic design from a separate unit in a detachable case for easy mounting in the window. I had to return all three. Sorry! Poor Design. I hope you redesign in the future otherwise Frigidaire is no good for me.

Bought to cool my studio apartment and it works great. I like the remote control but I did not know they had one with a sensor in it. We are nice and cool now that the temperute outside is in the 3 digits. I definitely recommend it.
