Zoom a flop

The cameras overall have great clearity, good night vision, and best of all I like the PIR setting, your not recording everything. Ive had them a year and no issues other than the zoom is impossible to get clear focus. Ive tried eveything nothing works.

Plastic housing

The camera is now made of plastic with a plastic mounting plate and plastic housing. It’s only a matter of time before the plastic yellows and gets brittle. I am very disappointed to see that Swann cameras are now made so cheap and flimsy. This will likely be the last Swann product I buy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

As mentioned, the housing for this camera is made of Polycarbonate. Cameras that are exposed to direct elements like sun and rain can become worn down naturally. We would recommend that the cameras be installed under an eave to help improve the product's lifetime. Swann now offers warranties for up to 36 months with our Secure Plus Plans. Outside of the warranty time frames, we are not able to replace the camera at no additional charge. Great system, needs attention to some details to make it perfect!

Just installed the 4 camera setup this weekend and the quality of the video I get is excellent. However, the kit came with CAT5 cables to power the cameras packaged in an oval shape and wrapped very tightly. Data cable should be wrapped loosely and in as close to a circle as possible to avoid kinks and wire failure. I also ran short on my two front cameras, 60' may work if your connection is being made in the center of the home which may not always be the case. I had to extend two lines to reach the DVR, and the two cameras closest to the DVR had entirely too much data cable. Ideally the system should have 2 (100') cables added to the kit, or keystone connectors to extend the lines. Also my DVR was not detected by the TV I tried using to set up due to the DVR was programmed to a lower resolution from factory making it undetected by my TV. I had to try a monitor with a VGA cable, and eventually a monitor with an HDMI cable to get picture to start setup and configure it to display on my HD TV.
Minor details to an otherwise excellent quality security system. Love being able to see my whole house from my phone as I travel frequently.
I would recommend this to a friend!

So I recently purchased 4 5mp bullet cameras, 3 have metal housing, 1 is made out plastic. It seems to me and my wife that the plastic housing perfomance much better. The 3 metal cameras will have to be returned to swann. They look more like 1080p, and they look very grainy. Does anyone know the difference?? Metal housing
