Absolutely worth the money. Only 1 thing I would change is when letter paper runs out there is no notice, automatically switches to legal sized printing. Other than that a great machine. I will never go back to HP printers again.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Now this is no commercial Laser printer...But we just bought our 2nd one because we like it so well! It has above avg speed in printing/scanning. I dont think you will be upset. Shop around the price on this has a big range! ;)

Great machine, Great customer support from Brother

This is our second all-in-one. We needed a machine that would send a received Fax to a PC so we could easily re-fax or email the document. The competition could not accomplish this at that time, the brother all-in-one did the job and was very dependable. The online support has been fantastic.

Great printer with some flaws

This printer started out to be a fine printer; no issues printing, printing is clear and pretty fast, fax worked great, and it seemed to be an amazing printer. Now that I have had this printer for several months, I have had the fuse replaced once by Brother (it started off with prints not being as clear, then to jamming every once in a while to jamming at least once a day, to jamming every single piece of paper, at which point I contacted Brother and they replaced the fuse).
The other issue I have with this printer is the copying aspect: when copying/scanning double sided pages, it is extremely slow.

The Drum packed up after less than 3 months of purchase and Brother refused to replace - states it is a consumable and the customer service response was horrible. Needless to say that I will not be buying any brother products for a while.

Worst Printer we have ever purchased

We have purchased multiple printer, faxes, scanners, copiers from Brother over the years and have been extremely happy until we purchased the MFC-8950DW. First it seems to be made cheaply and flimsy. Second it is much slower than what the company claims in the product description. We have spent a fortune on replacing drums and this started after 3 months of purchasing it. It is now less than 1 year old and we absolutely hate using it. We have pulled out our old copier and use it. I have contacted the company on multiple occasions to no avail. My recommendation is DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

Pretty poor at best

I've been a loyal Brother user and promoter as an IT guy, IT manager, and contracted IT guy since the early 90's. There have been, out of hundreds of models and machines installed, maintained, and monitored, precisely two that have been an on-going pain in the neck.
Unfortunately, this is one of them.
We have a lot of trouble with paper jams, and that's while using good paper and genuine OEM supplies. Users complain about the noise, which is considerable. The scanner software is twitchy at best; I reinstalled Control Center 4 four times as it kept losing track of the unit, and finally gave up. The gray-scaling on scanning and printing is poor, and worse, it's inconsistent.
Worst of all, it's only nine months old and had light use, but a repairman is coming today to replace the entire drive assembly because this one died. It's making a rhythmic popping noise indicative of a gear jumping instead of meshing. It sits in an air-conditioned office next to two employees who keep it clean to the point of near-obsession, and I keep the rollers wiped down.
I've kept an eye on the condition and usage, and my conclusion is that it's either a poor design or a "lemon," because its specs indicate it should have withstood many times the use it's had, which has only been about two reams of paper per month.
