Nice product but...

Nice product that functions as expected but it has one unfortunate characteristic. When starting from sleep mode there is a very high surge current into the power supply. It is enough to cause the lights to noticeably dim and a UPS on the same mains circuit to go into backup mode. I think the designers were a little too aggressive in their desire to make the transition from sleep to printing as short as possible. This is a potential problem for the user that is using a heavily loaded circuit.

fast and easy to use

I needed a fast black printer that I could hook up through the router for Linux and windows7, but I also needed to hook up a PC that was not Internet connected. This worked through a USB cable. So I have 5 Linux OS and windows7 connected through the router and a windows XP system attached through a USB cable. I did find a old Linux OS that would not use the router, but updating to a newer version fixed that.

Good upgrade

Upgrade from 5370DW. Easy to set up and easy to network wirelessly. Only complaint is that the machine is a bit noisy when printing.

FIRST ONE LASTED ABOUT A MONTH BUT STAPLES OVERNIGHTED THE REPLACEMENT, WHICH WORKS JUST FINE. BROTHER SUPPORT OUTSTANDING HELPING SET UP WIRELESS CONNECTION...HINT..USE AN ETHERNET CONNECTION TO SET PRINTER UP, MUCH SIMPLER THAN ENTERING ROUTER PASSWORD MANULY ON THE PRINTER LCD DISPLAY.
