Good After Fixing

The machine is a great all in one, producing fast, high quality prints and copies. But......
Our machine failed after only about 5000 copies. Service from Brother was excellent, quickly sending a replacement refurbished unit, and getting us back up and running. Only concern is the replacement machine only showed about 20,000 total copies. Hope that is not the norm for this all in one.

I receive no customer support. It cannot print grayscale photos--just black and white.
I use it to copy text and it is slow (not 40 copies a minute.).
I hope to return to Canon or Epson (for a few dollars more, but better print).

They don't make them like they used to.

This printer didn't last 6 months before having random jamming fits, dropping PC's from the scan to file list, and spurting toner all over inside. I called support and they would not help me unless it was jammed at the moment of the phone call. They said they needed to see the error on the screen. I told them the error said "Jam Inside". She then sent me directions for clearing a paper jam after I specifically asked her not to. She assured me that the instructions would be to prevent a fix the problem causing the paper jam. I am tired of dealing with this. Oh well, we have used all Brother products since we have opened 8 years ago, but we will move on. The product is now seems cheap and customer service has gone down hill.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very Impressive MFC

Having tired of buying three types of toner cartridges for separate fax, copier and printers, I thought it was time to buy a multi function to replace them. After doing some research, I decided on the 8710DW. Needed a legal size platen, as I am a lawyer.
Setting up was a breeze. Within a minute, it had found my wireless network and began printing from my PC. The fax and scanner were equally easy to setup. Only disappointment was my additional LT-5300 was not compatible. I'll use the fold out tray until I purchase one.
I would recommend this to a friend!

copying makes streaks despite cleaning. does this often. i have purchased at least 6 brother printers over the years and this is a new problem i never had before.

Dims the lights when motors start. Hope it won't zap the computer!
Need paper dimensions on glass frame.
Pretty bulky, but then, lots of stuff inside!

I have been using Brother all-in-one machines for many years and noticed replacements were always better than the previous model. This MFC continues the tradition. Duplex printing makes copying more efficient and the wireless networking means fewer wires and easier printing from computers in other rooms.
I have always liked the laser cartridges and thankfully this MFC continues with that feature.Thanks,Brother!
