Best printer I have ever had

I have printed pages, envelopes, scanned in items to my PC, and faxed items. The quality is great and the performance is efficient and quick. I don't have issues with envelopes getting stuck, and after having it for a couple of months, I have yet to have a paper jam. I love the clean, crisp look of the printed document.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased the All-in-One/Multifunction laser device because I needed a machine that could copy, fax, print and scan documents quickly. I love this machine as it meets all my needs with printouts that will not run when wet, unlike inkjet. The cost per sheet is very competitive. This machine is a must for a small independent business.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Wondering...and somewhat disappointed.

After much research, I purchased this printer for my home business, for which I often print over 800 pages daily (140 at a time). Very frequently, it prints about 50 pages quite quickly before my PC freezes, and I have to unplug my PC and plug it back in again. When I start printing my document package again, it prints v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y. I purchased this printer because of the advertised 40 ppm, but it doesn't print anywhere near that. My HP Officejets (I have two of those) print much faster than my new Brother laser printer.
I don't think I would purchase this printer again, given a choice. Now I need to use two printers to equal the speed advertised for this Brother printer. Wish I could return it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It does a good job

I have had this Brother high speed laser for about a month and have been happy with the printing and copying it does. Previously, before getting this printer, I've had problems with copies that were so faint that you could not read them. I was very pleased when the copies I've made with this printer have been excellent and readable. I like the fact that I can place something bulky on the copier and the lid will still close on it. This is my first experience with a scanner and I have been very pleased with the pictures I have scanned up to this point. It even did an excellent job with some very old photos I had.

MFC-8710 not working and Brother Help not helpful

A few months after I purchased this printer, it started to develop a black line on the side of the every page. Since it is still under warranty, I called the brother help line. The help line could not fix the problem on the phone and said it would send me further instruction to me for me to fix the problem. The instruction never came and the printer is never fixed. The experience with the help line was extremely frustrating and not helpful at all.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Saving on ink

We bought this brother product to replace an older printer that was eating ink on a weekly basis. It works a lot slower and some of our faxes do not go through. I only like the face that it is saving our office on ink costs.

My last printer

My last printer is still going after 20 years, but I needed a MFC. I'm very satisfied with the 8710DW, except it is too fast. If I forget to select "Print Selection" before "Print", it will print 15 sheets before I realize what is happening. Ha! This unit may last longer than I will. I will use this mainly for seismometry recording.

A BEAST at printing

I print mortgage docs, 150 to 250 pages per closing, 3-4 times per day, 5 days a week and so on. This printer is a work horse. I bought the 2nd tray for legal and letter pages and I can print an entire package of 150 to 250 pages in less then 3 minutes. GREAT printer. It duplexs great. This printer replaced another Brother HL5170DNLT that printed the same quantity for over 10 years. That printer was an old work horse and needed sent to pasture. So far, I love it.
