Excellent lens, lives up to the awards and ratings

I've only had this lens for a week but it does everything a great prime lens should do. I spent a lot of time reading/watching reviews of this lens and comprising it with Canon's 85mm f1.4 that is $500 more. Every comparison said they are virtually identical in picture quality. The only difference is the weight...this Sigma is fairly heavy at 3 pounds but so far hasn't impeded my ability to take crisp photos, even at apertures of 1.4.
Overall, this is a great portrait lens for a good price. One drawback (which has nothing to do with the lens) is the marketplace shipper, but I won't get into details here. Go to their description page to see some of the headaches myself and others have had with them.
