Holy amounts of space Batman! Whether trying to catch the Joker using its sturdy straps or thwart the Penguin with is massive opening it will do you wonders! Also, it holds all my kids school supplies.
The Fatboy backpack had all the features and appearance as listed. The material is of a thinner quality than I expected, seemingly less durable than I had hoped for the weight of multiple textbooks and frequent use that the backpack will be needed for. A more sturdy canvas-type fabric was my hope. But the material is stated to be weather resistant, so that's good for the bike rides in all weather to and from school. I take issue with two design features of the side straps used to cinch the backpack tighter: 1) they don't open as wide as I anticipated and are fastened in a manner that seems to limit full expansion of the compartments. 2) the location of the straps interferes with the use of the zippers when opening the compartments fully. Here's hoping for a satisfactory experience.
The large back zipper will hold a 15 inch laptop, yet it will not be in a sleeve. The sleeve on the back pocket can hold the width of a tablet like the iPad or Samsung or a spiral notebook but not a binder of any kind. No cushion/padding at the bottom so binders and other items are better for this bag. Very light weight, which is like the Sierra loop - and about 2 less pockets then the sierra loop backpack. Straps are comfy but wished the suspension was on the straps.
Well made. We live in a cold climate and it is hard to find a fat enough backpack to fit the sneakers/snow pants/lunchbox/binders. This appears to be large enough for what we will need in the winter months. And if it happens to be needed, we can always clip a lunchbox on the front with the clip provided.
My 9 year old loves his new backpack. I wish the bottom was a thicker material. It’s a thinner nylon material rather than the one I got for my daughter in Amazin which seems to have nice sturdy bottom and more formed. This one is thinner and less of a form so I suppose it would work better for shoving balls and different shaped things inside as it’s intended for but hopefully it will last a while. Also, it’s a large capacity backpack. Definitely a size that could be used through high school.
