Great, but could've been fantastic

I have high expectations for a phone designed from the ground up to work with the newest version of the android operating system. The Nexus is great, but falls slightly short of my expectations.
Don't get me wrong, there is still no other android phone I'd rather own - but in one day of owning it I've had a random shutdown and had the phone lock up when I tried to place a call which required me to remove the battery. Also the battery life is mediocre, and I don't believe this is all because of the LTE radio or the screen. I shut all the radios off and it lost 30% overnight - the razr I traded in for this phone lost 10% overnight.
There is plenty great about the phone, the screen is beautiful and ICS really is a nice step forward for Android. It's just not quite fantastic - yet.
Pros: Lightweight, comfortable form factor, quickest os updates
Cons: Did not meet expectations

Nexus vs Skyrocket

Nexus is a very good product but I would rate it no better than Galaxy Skyrocket. Ice Cream Sandwich has a lot of good features BUT it lacks some very basic features. They forgot to include speed dialing, a common feature on all phones except Iphone. You have to delete the entire phone log, there is no option to delete part of the log. For email logs, they left out option to "delete all" a feature Android has had in the past. The Calendar app is pure vanilla. Very basic and very poor. The Skyrocket Calendar app is a much better version. ALL IN ALL IF I HAD TO CHOOSE, SKYROCKET IS A BETTER USER DEVICE.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations, poor calendar app, no speed dial, no delete all provision, have to delete entire phone log

As far as the OS goes its perfect. Intuitive and revolutionary. Easily the best android phone to date. Surprisingly short battery life considering the stock android and 1850 battery.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, pure google
Cons: battery, built in speaker
I would recommend this to a friend!

After three weeks with this phone, I am very pleased with it. It is super fast in browsing through the phone menus, playing content, browsing the internet. The screen looks amazing, and the phone feels great in the hand. Only complaint is coming from a different LTE phone, I am no longer able to recieve an LTE signal at my desk, where I was previously with the other phone (it was marginal before). Kind of disappointing, but hopefully the signal is improved with an update soon. No regrets purchasing this phone regardless.
Pros: everything else not listed as a con
Cons: lte signal

ICS Issues
on January 5, 2012

I love the power of the Nexus! Out of the box i loved it but quickly saw issues with the software. ICs 4.0.3 is supposed to fix some of these issues but coming from a rooted HTC incredible the bang for my buck just isn't their. The battery life is terrible, the speaker volume isn't loud except if you DL a 3rd party app, and the cellphone signal is terrible. These issues I know have to be fixed by Verizon but i Didn't wait 8 months and pushed back delays to experience issues out of the box.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight

A few minor flaws hold it back

Color/intensity banding mars an otherwise amazing screen.
Radio weakness keeps it from reaching its full mobile communications potential.
Power Button placement is just odd. questionable ergonomics.
speaker loudness FAR too weak for a mobile device.
All quibbles, really. I cant think of anything id rather have to replace it.
