Great try

The quality of this phone was a bit low. The sides of the screen started to lose color or chip without ever being dropped. The battery life is so low even with extended batteries. Not truly a Nexus device being on a CDMA network waiting months for updates from Verizon. Drops signals often and takes sometime to regain a signal in a known strong area. The speaker is too quite, without workarounds it is barely audible.
Pros: Bright display, pure android (almost)
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Most Awesome Phone of its Time!

I know this phone was released 18 months ago. I bought it on Launch Day, December 15th, 2011, as soon as the Verizon store opened. But you know what? This device has held up remarkably well... it is still a very capable phone.
After 6 months, I rooted the phone and installed a custom ROM (operating system), which I have upgraded many times over the last year. My Nexus is running the latest version of Android.
If you do not wish to root your Nexus, you are not out anything. The phone was wonderful out of the box, and updated software simply makes it more so.
It's still one of few phones on the market with no physical control buttons on the front. It's just pure glass, with all controls using on-screen "soft keys." It's an aesthetic revolution: all phones should look like this!
If you are considering a Galaxy Nexus, you cannot go wrong... even 18 months later. The dual-core processor and capabilities will go up against just about any phone out there. The only things that are really "dated" on this device are the 1GB of RAM and the 5MP camera... but if you're not going to blow the image up to at least 8x10 or larger, then no need for more megapixels. The file sizes are larger for really no reason. As far as the RAM goes, it has taken everything I've thrown at it with rare good grace and any excess RAM is just sitting there, anyway.
All in all, I have no regrets about this phone and neither will you. I can recommend this phone most highly.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display

I got the Galaxy Nexus when it was first released. I went into the store to buy an iPhone, and came out with this instead. It just beat the iPhone in every category. I love the large screen, and am just more comfortable with the Android operating system. And Samsung just makes a beautiful product. The only reason I have less than 5 stars for performance is battery life. It is a hog. The standard battery lasts me less than 4 hours. The OEM extended life is not much better. I finally broke down and bought an after-market 3800mah battery that will last all day. Not a big fan of the weight and bulky case now, but at least my device is working!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: battery life

This phone is incredible! The functionality of the phone, graphics, and the base operation is outstanding. I loved the high graphics, the easy use, and the fact of how constantly up to date this phone remained! I never had a single issue with this phone unlike the many other phones I have owned and operated. I would fully recommend this phone to any one that may be interested.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, functionality, hd, nfc services, highly up to date, easy to use, minimal if any technical problems
I would recommend this to a friend!

A phone that gives you independence.

I am new to the smartphone market, but I have been an “all thumbs” PC user for years. My son who is in IT advised me to get a Galaxy Nexus because he knows I like to experiment and change things in my toys. The screen size and its clarity are exceptional. The learning curve was very short. My wife has an iPhone 4S and I think it's great, but the Galaxy Nexus is my choice because the viewing area is larger and the colors seem brighter and crisper making reading and watching videos easier. Probably the nicest feature is you can add files to the phone using a USB from your computer to the phone. Just copy files you want without using separate programs. When the files are in the phone, you can sort or arrange them using play lists or naming schemes. This feature gives you great flexibility. Being able to replace or upgrade the battery is another nice feature.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, battery can be upgrade or replace, the larger screen is nice, easy to load audio and video files
Cons: built-in-speakers could be loader, battery life 8-10 hours w/moderate use
I would recommend this to a friend!

The Galaxy Nexus Sets the Standard for All Other Phones

I have owned many phones throughout the years, all claiming to be groundbreaking, innovative phones. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the first phone to live up to the hype. From the box - which is an understated simple white package, you open it up to phone - again an understated thing of beauty. Simple gray shell with a clean black face. The phone has an elegant curve to it, which seems to just contour to your hand and face. Anyone who sees the phone immediately takes a second look, and even a third. It is, quite simply, a thing of beauty. The only thing I wish is that the back was not made of plastic. A more durable material would be ideal. However, with the Galaxy Nexus, the back has a pattern/design that makes up for this.
When you first turn the phone on, instead of being greeted by a Verizon logo or some other overlay, you see the reassuring Google logo. Once the phone loads, which is the quickest boot I have ever seen in a smartphone, this is where things start to get really interesting. If you have ever owned an Android in the past, once you sign into your account, Google takes care of the rest of it for you. Opening up People (Contacts) you see that your contacts are already in there, and neatly set up. It loads up all of your apps you use from the Android Market, not just the ones you pay for. Within minutes, you are good to go.
The OS - Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, is simplistic and beautiful. It is so easy to navigate that I can't seem to put the phone down. Folder creation and screen shots are so much easier than any other phone I've owned. There's a Google search bar at the top of the screen that is not removable, but is so unobtrusive that I actually love it there. Face unlock is an amazing feature, and works so well that I can't help but play with it every chance I get. The lack of bloatware (unwanted apps installed that you can't get rid of) is fabulous. You don't have to deal with looking at all of these apps you have no desire to ever use. Any apps installed on your phone (including the 2 Verizon apps) can be disabled as well.
The internal hardware is amazing as well. It zooms along on a 1.2Ghz processor and 1GB Ram, with no lag (freezing/slowing down) whatsoever. I want it to do something, it just does it - faster than I could ever ask for. It does not have a removable SD memory card, but it does come with 32GB of internal memory. The camera is a 5.0 megapixel camera with zero shutter lag and a very fast auto-focus. It also has a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera that you can use for Google Hangouts and Skype video chats, along with other video chat apps. The screen is a Samsung Super AMOLED, so it is the brightest, clearest display you will see on the market.
All in all, everything about this phone is amazing, simplistic, beautiful, and above all, the best of the best. It is designed so that anyone can use it, from someone who has never owned a smartphone to developers. It sets the bar for all future phones. For once I can say, I will be owning this phone for years to come. I can't imagine needing anything else than what Samsung and Google have teamed up to give us.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

Powerful phone, Android 4.0 is awesome

This has been the phone of my dreams! I've had the Galaxy Nexus for about 2 months now and I am in love with it. Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) is one of the best parts about this phone. Everything looks more beautiful than ever, it's quick and easy to use, and it is a really high performance OS.
PROS:
The display on the Galaxy Nexus is amazing. Everything looks sharp and bright, and the blacks are REALLY black. The automatic brightness setting is slightly too dim for me, but I appreciate the effort to conserve battery. The camera is not the best camera Samsung has made, but I love the fast shutter speed. As soon as I've touched the button the picture's been taken. Video chatting on the phone is also really nice with the front facing camera. I thought that the size of this phone might be a hassle, but it isn't as much trouble as I expected. It doesn't fit into all of my pockets, but I can just keep it in my purse when that's the case.
CONS:
There are a few downsides to this phone that might turn some people off (but not me). First, the battery life could be better, but I understand the load that Verizon 4G and the Super AMOLED display put on the battery. I keep a charger in my car just in case. Also, the speaker on the back of the phone is kind of quiet. There are some times when I haven't heard the phone ring, but most times I do hear it. One other small inconvenience (and this one isn't Samsung's fault) is that you can't sync your phone contacts with Facebook. I guess Facebook won't agree to Google's information sharing policies so that feature has been disabled indefinitely.
I've spent a lot of time exploring this phone and it really is a stunning device. It's the best phone on the market and will be for a long time.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, android 4.0, large display, fast camera shutter speed, no lag
Cons: short battery life, external speaker is quiet, can't sync phone contacts with facebook
I would recommend this to a friend!
