Like many other online reviews, consider this a really good backup, home cloud system. But for more advanced users, looking for a sophisticated NAS drive, it may or may not be what you want. Setup for Apple devices fairly straight forward. When trying to connect to a current windows laptop, it would not connect for some reason. I eventually needed WD tech assistance and it was not at all intuitive. I’m not saying all Windows users will experience this however. Something else to know, I’m on an Xfinity cable Internet and modem/router. I routinely get notifications that Xfinity has detected and stopped IP reputation attacks on the drive. I have increased the security level but they continue to happen. At least they say they are stopped, however, it tells me that this drive can be seen and attacked from outside of my LAN, and what happens if one gets past the firewalls and other security?
