Decent fun for a few minutes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My review will begin at the unboxing to the actual use of the race car. The package was easy to open, and the car, remote, and headset didn't take too long to get out of the box, unlike some products that are frustrating to even open up. I couldn't use it until I charged the car and purchased AAA batteries, which took me a while to acquire.
I played with the FPV race car, along with my 11 year old son and 6 year old daughter. My son doesn't want to do much as a family anymore, so the fact that this interested him was a huge pro! Other pros of this product are that it has its own wifi, so even a family without wifi can enjoy this product. The app doesn't take up too much storage on my phone, another huge plus. The instructions were detailed and easy to follow. We did have a good time taking turns playing with this car together as a family.
Now for the cons: the battery life is way too low. I couldn't believe that the low battery indicator came on after just a few minutes of use. We didn't use the record video option yet because we needed to stop to let it charge. Another con is that if the car gets knocked too hard, the camera turns off. This happened when my son was using it. We also wish the car turned easier---it hit wall after wall.
It was cool to see my house in the viewer, as VR still impresses me greatly, but because the car doesn't turn as well as it should and the remote seems kind of flimsy, it wasn't a fun, seamless experience. Because of this, I don't think my kids are going to be dying to play with it everyday.
Growing up in the 80s and 90s, my brother always asked for remote control cars--this is several steps up from that and I know he would have loved it if something like this was available then. My bottom line is that this car is worth buying, but for a kid to want to keep playing with it, the battery life needs to be extended and the car needs to be more responsive and able to make turns quicker.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This car was a hit with my nephew. He love r/c cars (has a lot of them) this was by far the most fun car he has. Being able to feel like he was behind the wheel was really a neat thing. He was having so much fun we all had to try it out.

Best Race Car Ever! according to my kids

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 10- and 7-year-old boys were ecstatic while opening their Air Hogs FPV High Speed Race Car. The set comes with the race car, remote control, and viewer. (NOTE: You will need a smartphone to be able to use the viewer).
While I was still reading the instructions, the boys had successfully downloaded the app, placed batteries into the remote control, and figured out how to operate everything. They didn't need me or the instructions!
The car needs to be charged (USB cord can be plugged into your computer or into a USB/outlet adapter), which doesn't take long. While it was charging, we downloaded the app onto my smartphone and followed the on-screen instructions - which were simple and straightforward. The kids loaded the remote with 2 AAA batteries.
Once the car was charged, they placed my phone (with the app open) into the viewer and took turns. Once the viewer was strapped on, the kids could operate the car with the remote control, and get a car's-eye-view of the action. They created obstacles for one another, and had fun jumping in front of the car's camera to scare the other person. They have recorded photos and videos of their races.
This has been their favorite toy this year. They keep inviting friends over just to let them try the Air Hogs FPV Race Car. We have had the race car for a few weeks now, and it is still getting played with daily.
I would highly recommend this for any kid who enjoys race cars or video games.

The best toy ever!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love this! As just a remote control car it is pretty darn cool, and adding in the VR capabilities puts it over the edge. I'll break it down by component.
Starting with the remote - a great size easy to use for small kids and still usable for adults. My husband has arthritis and has difficulty holding small things but had no issues with this. The buttons are easy to use and become easily intuitive. The controls for driving the car are very easy even for young kids. A bonus is the feature on the battery compartment that keeps it secure but doesn't require a tiny screwdriver to access it. Awesome improvement!
The car itself is great. Ours has taken multiple beatings and has even skewered a seltzer can! The charging is easy, although the cord is a bit short for getting the car of that size close to an outlet. However most people already have cords around since it is micro USB. It is cool that it even has minor adjustments available. Works great on hard surface but just as well on carpet or outside. Easy to control, although a bit of a rough drive sometimes. Not a super high end remote control vehicle when it comes to smoothness of the drive but that isn't what you are buying this for.
The VR is pretty darn cool. The app is super easy to pair with and walks you through the whole thing. A great explanation of how to use the whole thing as well when you first set it up. The dual camera option (multi use) is fantastic. It was definitely a concern of mine initially being able to see where I was going while I was driving. More concerned about my 11 yr old boy who is not the most careful in his movements! I love the video as well as the pictures. Cute to see the view even without sound. I have added a screenshot from a video in our kitchen below.

It is so cool how you can use your smart phone to interact with this vehicle-and it takes great photos and video! The VR headpiece included is amazing-even my hubby wanted to play! You really feel like you are in the drivers seat, ready to race! This is sure to be a hit with kids-and adults!- of all ages!

Great for kids!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids had a great time with this car! They have been fighting over it since the day it came in. They really love the VR goggles. They like to wear them while the other controls the car. The car itself is fest and has good handling. We had a little difficulty getting the remote to connect to the car at first, but it works great now. I loved that the packaging was easily removed without needing any tools.

Awesome Air Hogs FPV Car

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Air Hogs FPV Car has really cool features and packs a great wow factor. Spent a lot of time trying to figure out the controls, orientation. The whole video/camera options which are really cool!! I let my tech savvy (video game master) 11 year old try this out. I thought he got the hang of it pretty quick and I'm not sure I even saw him read instructions-maybe just skimmed or glanced at the camera/video set up. He crashed this plenty of times during some of the very did it no harm whatsoever. By the second day he had sufficiently mastered it and drove far enough away from himself to get it out of range and had used the camera option several times. It has such cool features, it works and is pretty darn durable to boot! I gave it 4 stars because I think it does deliver, but then it leaves you wanting so much more.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me start by saying I have always loved cars. I played with my boy cousin’s hot wheels for hours when we were kids. So I was very excited to give this car a try. The packaging was easy to open which is a plus for a big ticket item like this. No looking for teeny tiny screwdrivers to get this thing on the road. The car itself is very sleek, the design is very cool. The remote and googles feel light but aren’t cheap. The app was easy to find in the App Store and easy to use as well. Charging the car was simple and fast, the car itself was pretty fast too. I had a great time playing with it. My kids took turns and loved it too. The remote needs AAA batteries. I would definitely recommend this for kids that are video game savvy ages 5-10 years old.
