Great project with the kids

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Meccano Max is an adorable little robot that can do some awesome things. The face gives it a more personal touch. It's a nice size so it doesn't take up too much space in the house. Max can tell jokes, he moves, and has conversations. Like with all voice activated devices sometimes you have to repeat yourself. The kids have a blast with him and the dog gets in on the action barking at the robot occassionally.
The instructions could be hard to follow at times but it was fun to do with the kids. I love that the parts are separated and labeled. It makes the whole project easier.We have the older version of Meccano robot and I like this one much better.
I would recommend this to a friend!

More fun for the Adults

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I think that this was more fun for me then it was for my 11 year old son. I love putting things together and I think that it was more difficult for him to do. The concept is good but I think that it would be better if the construction of it was a bit easier, especially for kids who may normally not put things together all of the time. Again, I enjoyed it but I am grown and like putting things together. It's more complex then just Lego's as well so if you are just looking for something to just build, this is a little bit more difficult. The end result of MAX is cool but the work you have to put in to get to MAX can be a bit frustrating and challenging.

Kept my son busy for hours!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 11-year son has recently become interested in building robots through a club at school. This Meccano M.A.X. is the perfect toy for him. When he got home from school, he saw it sitting on the counter. His eyes lit up and he was super excited! After he finished his homework I let him open the box. For over 4 hours, he sat and put the Meccano M.A.X. together and played with it. He was really into it. He didn't need any adult help. Once he got it put together, I heard the robot talking. My son was literally having a conversation with M.A.X. It was moving all around my kitchen floor. This is such a cool toy! I can't wait to see what else it can do. My 11 year old absolutely loves it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our 12 year old son assembled with Meccano Max with supervision from his dad. The most important thing I can suggest is to keep the pieces separate and read the directions. Do no jump forward. It took several hours to assemble and required good attention to detail and focus. He enjoyed playing with it for a few weeks and is still enjoying it. I think that it brings constructive play into action and gives the satisfaction of completion. How long he will play with it is yet to be determined but I would recommend, the price point is reasonable and it was nice to have something that was not a t.v. or video game to distract him.

Great product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son is 10 years old (about to turn 11 in a couple of months) and it took him a little more than the hours it said it would take to build the robot. He did this all on his own following the instructions, his only complaint was it was hard to tell the different screw sizes by just looking at the picture. After the build was complete we were able to charge and program, he has had a little difficulty with it (somehow he erased the program and had to start over?) Overall this is a great product; well built, kept him busy for awhile building it and he said he enjoyed programming and playing with it.

Max Maccano is AWESOME!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 11 yr son, Will, has been interested in building things (and taking them apart) since he was very young. (At the age of 3, he could disassemble my vacuum cleaner and put it back together.) This type of building/engineering project is PERFECT for a kid like Will. It's challenging enough to provide several hours of fun, but not so hard that it's impossible for him to finish. In fact, he still hasn't finished it yet (school and soccer season have slowed him down), but this weekend I'm sure he'll have it up and running! MAX-Meccano is highly recommended! This would be a great gift for any STEM minded kid!

This human loves MAX!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My ten year old son loves his Meccano MAX! It took him about 4 hours to complete the assembly of MAX. He even skipped dinner to keep working. Evidently, building the robot is half the fun. By the time he finished MAX, it was 9:30 PM so he had to wait until after school the next day to actually play with MAX. The wait was torturous! When he began playing with MAX, none of the games were unlocked so the only thing MAX would do was tell a joke. You can unlock levels and play more games by playing with MAX. After two days, my son is on level six and has unlocked many fun games. He even uses an app on his iPAd as a remote control for MAX. He got MAX to pick up a dog toy and tease my dog. MAX is so much fun!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 7 yr old son was so excited to see this box for he Meccano Max! He has been asking for a robot of his own for a very long time. He is definetly my creator! He love finding out how things work and loves tonput things together!! The instructions and set up was a bit intimidating at first, but by following it step by step it was manageable. The end product was something he was proud of helping to create, but once it was together, he lost some interest. We shall see how it holds up and if he goes back to it! I think it is pretty cool, but he had high expectations for his own personal "robot!" Lol
