Love it

I got this for my daughter on her fourth birthday. She loves it and so do I. I did get the earphones bc the volume definitely works well. She enjoys it so much. She is sounding things out and trying to add after just a few days of having it. I haven't found anything to complain about yet, but it has only been a week! It has exceeded our expectations and she thinks it is cool enough to leave my iPad alone. We love leapfrog products.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Lacking a few features to make it a great tablet

I would really like to see a memory expansion made for this tablet. While 4gb is reasonable for many kids needs, it would be nice to be able to fit more videos , books, and games on a memory card if needed. Even if that means buying an expansion card that holds an sd card or just a leapfrog explorer cartridge that is blank and comes in different storage sizes. If leapfrog came out with an expansion card I highly believe that they would likely sell a lot more downloadable apps.I know I would get more games, learning videos, and ebooks for my daughter. I would much rather buy a large blank card and fill it up in the App Store, than making sure my daughter keeps track of her valuable game and ultra ebook cartridges.
I wish that I would have just bought the original girl leappad2 instead of spending more, only to get a decorated case, faceplate, and wallpaper screens. After searching the package I finally found the tiny sticker sheets taped in the cardboard behind the case(would have made much more sense to put them in the case.) Also only found one stylus, they should still include two like the original leappad, since they are charging more for the Disney decorations already. There is also a spot to put an extra stylus in the case, but she didn't receive one, and they are over priced to buy replacements.
Over all my daughter loves her leappad2, well enough that she will leave me alone with my iPad. She likes the Dora videos and the music player(I bought the MP3 player add on and added her Dora CDs). She loves taking care of her pet, the art studio, and the cameras.
I wish the art studio had an extension to add more colors, tools, shapes, and stamps(movable stickers would be nice). It could also fit a larger canvas area, a retractable tool drawer would be nice too and offer an even larger canvas.
I also would like the MP3 player to be a little more user friendly. It sticks any personally added music all in one spot ( labeled "my music"), and puts it in alphabetical order. I would like to be able to at least separate CDs into their own folder or make playlists. In the future I would like to add audio books too, but would want to be able to keep them separated from the music files so that she can find them easier.
The pet pad could use an extension to add body parts and colors, and a number writing extension would be awesome.
Even though it is rather expensive, I highly recommend the rechargeable battery kit. They charge pretty quickly and hold a charge for long time, just wish that they charged a little bit while turned on.
Over all I would highly recommend a leappad2, other than expandable memory lacking, and not being able to add personal videos, I feel it is a much better buy than the innotabs. The software available is of much higher quality, there is larger quantity available, and a large amount is even interchangeable with the leapsters.

disney princess leap pad 2 bundle

love this product only bad thing I can say is we did not get the stickers that it states comes with the bundle and to tell you the truth I didn't even notice it until I was reading the box. We got this for my daughter for christmas she will love it we set it up early so it is ready for her and to understand it to be able to guide her , don't think she will have any problem, I feel the apps and cartriges are afforadable too. Very happy with this gift.

AA batteries?

The toy is excellent! My daughter loves it! The only thing that I would recommend is that it's made to be rechargable instead of making it take batteries with the option of buying an additional power pack. Lets be realistic about how it will be used (it'll be used a lot!!!!).
I would definitely buy this again and recommend it to my friends and family!

I am happy to say that I recently purchased the Leappad 2 Disney Princess edition for my daughter's 4th Birthday coming in October 2012. She hasn't received it yet, but I can guarantee she will love it.
I have taken it out of the package, put batteries in it and set it up, so here is my honest review.
It feels just like an ipad or a Kindle in your hands. When you put the batteries into it it does get heavier, but that's to be expected. It comes with 5 apps, 4 included plus one of my choice. The setup was easy, just like other Leapfrog products I have purchased. I think the front/rear camera/video recorder is perfect. My daughter loves to use the camera in my old cell phone, and is quite the little gamer just like Daddy. The reason I know she will love this Leappad is due to the fact that she has a VTech handheld that she loved until the screen went blank on her, plus.. she has a Nintendo DS, so she is on her way to many great games and adventures. I believe this will be very educational and fun for her at the same time. I had read that the battery life isn't very good in these, but I cannot tell you my assessment on that as of yet. My only complaints are that the Leappad 2 is kind of slick, and may result in falling out of my child's hands. Also, it would have been great if the Leappad 2 came with a screen protector. I did end up buying screen protectors, and I will have to buy a gel skin as well. The stylus pen is on the right hand side, which is nice for most, but being a lefty myself, I find it a little difficult to use. then again, this isn't for me. I just want parents of left-handed children to know that the string holding the stylus becomes a lot shorter when you are left handed. The case that came with the Leappad is very sturdy, with a sturdy zipper, and slots for holding the cartridges. I cannot wait for my daughter to get this for her birthday. I will update when she receives it if possible, and give her assessment. LeapFrog does not disappoint. Thank you.

Perfect for your little princess

Last year we were unable to buy our daughter the leappad so we purchased the explorer. Our daughter loved the games and we could see that she was learning and increasing her vocabulary. This year i made sure to get my hands on the leappad2 before it gets sold out. The disney princess theme is perfect and we couldnt be happier with the products of leapfrog!

Best "toy" ever!

Bought this for my granddaughter for her 4th birthday. She loves her LeapPad! Takes it in the car, to the store, to restaurants. Hours of entertainment! And all educational! She will be reading on her own in no time!

Pretty little Princess Suprise

My 6 year old can't seem to put it down. The case has enough room for her earphones and usb cable. I like the case because it is flexable and sturdy.My daughter loves the colors. Pink and purple. Plus the game and cartridges are easy to learn.
Pros: Fun for kids
