I live in a condo and my old Char-Broil was too big to be moving it around. Loving the Char-Broil brand, I looked up to see what they had that was smaller but still had the infrared grill plates. The patio kettle grill is perfect and cooks great and evenly. The only drawback was no hooks were provided or a place to put them for my grilling tools. Assembly was easy and I had it ready to go in 2 hours. Love it

I am really enjoying my new grill. Assembly took me a little over an hour. I only had to back track once. I needed to free up the igniter wires that I had stuck under something I had already tightened. I read the instructions and seasoned the the stainless steel. I have found that I cook on a lower setting than on my last grill. It took a few tries, but I've got it now. It's a great size, easy to use and easy to clean. The only drawback I have found is that the drip pan is very close to the value on my propane tank so I end up knocking it off when opening or closing the valve. Other than that, I am totally satisfied with my grill.

Easy to assemble, and gets hot enough to create a nice sear on meat! Small, but perfect for my 1 person household. I think the grate/infrared plate may not wear very well as I seems a little flimsy, but right now, it’s fine. I’m keeping it oiled and cleaning as recommended so hopefully it will last. Overall, very pleased with my choice.

This is a huge disappointment

I have had three Char Broil Patio Caddys that were all great. This year I replaced a Patio Caddy with this and it is miserable. The whole TRU Infrared thing is messy and never cleans up well. I am very dissatisfied.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am sorry you are having difficulty when cleaning this model. TRU-Infrareds can be a little tricky to clean but by following these 3 steps, it will make things a little easier for you!
1. Perform the “Burn-Off” Method. Turn the grill on high (with the lid closed) for 15 minutes. This will allow any food particles or debris that is stuck to the grates or other interior grill parts, burn off of the grill. (this is the step that your grill is referring to by “self-cleaning)
2. After the grill has cooled back down, use the proper brush (nylon brush for porcelain coated grates, wire brush for stainless steel) to brush the remaining particles off of the grates or emitter trays.
3. Wash the interior parts of the grill with a 50/50 mixture of soap and water to ensure that everything is clean of debris. Once the parts are 100% dry, place them back in the grill so that it is ready for use next time! (if the debris is really stuck or rust is appearing, you can use a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water)
*To ensure you grates are easy to clean, make sure you season them properly before grilling each time!

This grill has a higher BTU than other space saving grills. It's easy to move and to store. I bought this to replace the Char Broil Patio Caddie which I loved for 25 years. The Patio Bistro is just as great as the Patio Caddie, and with a better grate. I use it in an area that is frequently windy and I don't have a problem with the flame blowing out. I would buy it even if I didn't have limited space. Excellent grill, highly recommended.
