Clear and unobtrusive

I've been using this sub for several months now and I have really enjoyed it. It is a forward firing sub, which means it isn't just a port pointing into the room, but the whole woofer, which removes some of the tones and 'wooshing.' Frankly, paired with some really wide range towers (like the studio 590s) you might not even notice it is there.

GREAT ADDITION TO MY SOUND BAR

I purchased this sub to add to my Yamaha YAS-106 sound bar. Had enjoyed the sound bar but was looking for a fuller sound and some effects on movies. I am very pleased with the addition of the JBL sub to my sound bar. It filled out the sound and added the bottom that I was looking for. Simple set up....just plug and play really.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Initial impressions are setting them up...these JBL 550p sealed SUBS sound best at phase 180, just like previous BIC down firing 12" subs with the Polk XT speakers I'm using in my 5.2 configuration. I have to run them hotter at 3oclock versus the down firimg ported subs at 12oclock. Overall, I loving the musical sound of these subs and now understand why people love sealed subs over the ported subs. I am hearing various low notes versus just booms...the impact is still there when watching movie trailers, but seems so much cleaner and tighter. I can't wait to use them more and more...they are definitely not going back. You need at least 2 for best sound in a room with these.

I bought a pair of these to round out my Studio 5 series 5-channel a/v system. I got a great price as they were "factory refurbished". The only blemish was that one unit seemed to have had something spilled on its grille. It cleaned off quite easily, though, so now both look perfect, and so far they seem to be functioning perfectly. They're not super-subs by any means (not at this size and price) but they do a great job and sound tight and clean, taking a load off my receiver. They look real good, especially with my Studio 590's, 530's and 520C. So far I am completely thrilled with them. They were well-packed and shipping was super speedy, too.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Killer Speaker N Sound 1/17/22

My surround sound sounds good but I like more bass, with this speaker and built in amp it just thump’s away, you can adjust it to your liking, plus it’s not a cheap speaker or cabinet it’s solid and has some weight to it, plus you can hook it up to your existing system, you want great bass then I Highly Recommend this speaker. I also replaced my car speakers with JBL Speakers and it’s awesome!

Deep, rich base. This sub is a great compliment to smaller box speaker needing something better on the low end.
