Thank you JBL!

I've been trying several brands of bookshelf speakers lately to settle in my new setup. To be honest, I haven't been a fan of the older versions (L100, L112 and 4312). I went out on whim based on all the rave reviews and was shocked how great they sounded! The horns/waveguide worried me since the competition has a harsh horn but these are just right! Great engineering!
My ears thank you!

I’m a speaker junkie and have owned dozens. B&W 685 S2, Kef Q100, Polk LSIM703, Def Tech SM55, and many more. These JBL 530’s are my favorite out of all of them. Perfectly balanced, huge soundstage, crystal clear, and great bass! I love them!

Still burning in- quite nice

I’m about 20 hours of playback on these, and they seem to need less burn in than many others. I’m A/B testing with some likely familiar options- Klipsch, KEF, Wharfedale, and Polk. These 530’s are maybe the most neutral/flat of the group. I feel as though they’re a bit reduced in the higher end- like ~10khz and above (that’s a spitball guess- I haven’t actually measured). That’s a little surprising given the wave guide, but it’s not pronounced enough to be a shortcoming. Fit, finish, and materials are all very good. In my tests so far, the 530’s definitely image better than the Wharfdale Diamond 11.2. I’ve not thrown heaps of wattage at them yet. Presently using an IOTAVX amp that gives 40wpc and the 530’s seem happily driven. I’ll go to 100wpc with other amps, though I’m not sure that it’ll matter much.

A great surprise for Fathers Day JBL Studio 530

The JBL Studio 530 speaker delivers a truly stunning life-like experience. The compression driver makes all the difference and reminds me of a live event. They are replacing The JBL Stage 170 floor standing speakers and a nice pair of Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2. The JBL Studio 530 is truly an amazing bookshelf speaker and does a great job with any kind of music. These are a great change of sound. Instruments sound real and ballsy, they now have some gravitas, some grunt . The sound is tight and fast, instruments start and stop with the right stuff/ pace. The plucking of guitar strings is so realistic, it’s alive. I was in the kitchen today and Patsy Cline was “in my living room”. Now listening to Herb Ellis & Ray Brown - Jazz At The Concord,73. With the JBL Studio 530 Kraftwerk sounds almost as good as the 1975 tour. I’ve NEVER heard this so real. It’s a couple steps closer to reality. Even at low volumes they sound amazing and at loud volumes they are breathtaking. I wish I had bought 2 pairs.

Fantastic speakers I have heard at a friend's house - but - I don't like Black Ash cabinets. I miss the Beech finish they used to offer on similar speakers, or even the fake Cherry wood finish.

Sounds great after break-in

Upon arrival, the 530 sounds very disappointing. The highs are mellow, and the bass is boomy and mushy. After a week, the character completely changed. It is detailed and refined, and no fatigue.
