I thought it would be hard to "best" the L830's but JBL has done it with these. They don't have quite the low end of the 830's but the 530's aren't skimpy on bass either. Fantastic speakers. I sold high end audio/HT for many years and these can stand with just about anything, they should be double current asking price.
Best value in audio I've ever seen.

I was looking for some high quality bookshelves to use as desktop speakers. I tried several brands and the 530 won out by a longshot. First thing to mention is how great they look. Wonderfully monolithic, yet the waveguide gives it just enough of an organic touch. They look like nothing I've ever seen in a speaker, which means it's probably a love it or hate it situation. I love it. They are 18" tall. Let me repeat, they are 18" tall. Measure your space. Next, the sound. Oh, yeah it's good, real good. Even running them in a nearfield setup it covers you with sound. Don't, however, misunderstand me. This is not sloppy wishy-washy sound, but a large, highly accurate sound stage that seems to envelope the listener while still being highly directional. These are not flat so I'm not sure that I would try to mix with them. They are however bouncy and playful, a joy to listen to, and zero fatigue.

These speakers can be used as a jumping-off point into the world of high-fidelity sound reproduction. These speakers are rated to reproduce up to 40,000 Hertz, but if you want to try out those higher ranges, make sure your A/V player and amplifier can pass the super-sonic source signal to these speakers.
