I have to fill the bottles above the water line in order for the straw that goes in the bottle to carbonate the water to fit. Then pour some of the water back out to add the syrup. They are not the same design as what came with my unit.

Having used the machine a while I now understand why the bottles are built the way they are. They must withstand considerable pressure while the carbonation takes place. I like the sturdy lid that is on the bottle as well it’s Crouzon tight and keeps the carbonation in the bottle when I store it in the fridge.
