G19 pocket flashlight - great light for size

I have these throughout my home and office. They are great for emergencies, but also for quick little inspections, or when looking for little things that are missing. Nice and small for getting behind electronics to see connections. I.e. behind the flatscreen, or by the desktop computer. Also works great when something goes missing under the car seat! small but bright!

G19 Review

The G19 is a great flashlight to carry in your pocket. I have been carrying one for at least ten years. The focused beam it emits is bright and the quality of the light is top notch. It takes one AAA battery. The button over the years has give up the ghost a couple times but Coast stands behind their products and has alway replaced it with no hassle. Coast is a great company and they do take care of their customers. I recommend everyone get a G19. I also have a G20 model which is also an inspection light. It takes two AAA batteries. Both of these models are excellent flashlights. You will not be disappointed with their performance 👍👍

All You Need To Know

Full Disclosure: Coast provided me the G10, G15, and G19 lights in order for me to test them out. But, everything I will talk about here is my own opinion.
Coast Portland was not given copy approval nor any editorial input in this review. That means, they're reading this review for the first time along side you.
These are the topics I will cover. Skip to whatever corresponding number in order to read about that specific topic and find what you are looking for.
1) G10 vs. G15 vs. G19
2) What I Don't Like
3) Build Quality/Overview
4) Weight
5) Operation and Modes
6) Charging Port
7) Charging and Battery
8) Performance On Lithium-ion Battery
9) Charge Time/Battery Satistics
10) Thoughts/Why I'd Go With The A5 Instead
The Individual Topics Begin Here:
Note: I'm only going to refer to a single light as all three lights are basically the same. Everything mentioned is applicable to all three light unless specifically noted otherwise.
1) G10 vs. G15 vs. G19:
• These three lights are identical. The only difference is their clips
• The G10 has no clip
• The G15 has a mounting clip able to clip onto objects and allows the light to be swiveled in different positions
• The G19 has a normal pocket clip
• All the clips are removable and interchangeable between any of these three lights
2) What I Don't Like:
• I wished they were all a bit brighter
• The beam isn't quite uniform. The perfect circle of light it creates is brighter towards one side
3) Build Quality/Overview:
• The light feels premium. With semi-coarse knurling, it feels nice to hold
• It is entirly made of high strength anodized aluminum
• The tail cap unscrews in order to remove the battery
• The button is a high travel, stiff, mushy, high positive tactile button with a rubber cap over it
4) Weight:
• 1.38 oz (39 grams). That's about the weight of 7 United States Quarters
5) Opperation and Modes:
• The operation of the light is controlled by one button on the back of the light
• There is only one mode
• There is no momentary on mode
6) Charging Port:
• No charging port built into the light itself. Instead, there is a Micro-USB charging port built into the optional ZX100 battery
7) Battery and Charging:
• The light is powered by 1 alkiline AAA battery. It can also run on the Coast ZX100 lithium-ion rechargeable battery
• The ZX100 battery is a standard 10440 battery
• The ZX100 has a built-in Micro- USB charging port and a charging indicator on the top of the battery
• A solid red light indicates charging and a solid green light indicates the battery is fully charged
8) Performance On Lithium-ion Battery:
• I didn't notice any performance/brightness increase when running it on the optional ZX100 battery compared to an alkiline AAA battery
9) Charge Time/Battery Satistics:
ZX100:
Rated Capacity: 200 mah
Tested Capacity: 164 mah
Built-In USB On Battery:
Charge Speed: 310 mah
Time: 36 minutes
10) Thoughts/Why I'd Go With The A5 Instead:
Overall, I think these lights are very handy. They are tiny and very unobtrusive. The G19 is perfect to keep on your belt. The G10 is a great light to keep in a purse or go bag. The G15 is a great light for automotive or as general work light as you can clip it on a hat or objects. I wish all three lights were a tad brighter though.
For me though, I'd actually go with the A5 pen light over any of these. The A5 is a tad smaller than these three lights both in height and in diameter and made of higher quality materials; stainless steel compared to aluminum. The A5 also has a much more even beam. Although, its one down side is that it isn't fully compatible with the ZX100 or other 10440 batteries. Some of the A5 lights aren't able to accept the ZX100 as the battery is too tight and gets stuck inside the body. That isn't the case for all of them though. Some A5 lights are able to fit the ZX100. I prefer the A5 regardless as I think it has a much classier look and feel.

Great EDC Inspection light for an Engineer
on February 21, 2022

As a Mechanical Engineer working in automotive, I spend a lot of time inspecting parts and equipment. This light does a great job of focusing light to look inside of tight spaces like connectors (ones pictured are much larger than what I typically work with) without washing out detail and blinding the user. The light has a nice form factor and I like the protruding button that makes it easier to operate. At this price point, its hard to beat. Of the several inspection lights that I have, this one tends to be my go to.

Great details and quality

Attention to detail is great, the rubber switch cover has the Coast "C" molded in to it. The pocket clip has the "C" cut out of the section that snaps on to the body of the light, all great details. The knurled body is great to hold on to along with the diameter of the light body being ideal for pocket carry and holding in your hand.
The one I am looking at now is a replacement that was sent because the previous unit was having some issues staying on. The Warranty process was simple and the replacement was sent quickly.

Sometimes I have to insist with the power button and sometimes it turns off by itself, with the previous one that did not happen only that I left it forgotten somewhere
