LG X venture meant to be tough

I bought the LG because I like mechanical functioning keys vs. the video touch screen buttons I like to hike, bike and workout on a track. This phone is designed for the physically active user. Since I do not watch videos or play games on my smart phone I was not looking for a phone designed as a mini-video and game computer which essentially is the Galaxy 8. I like the button to launch the built in app, but my complaint is I keep accidentally touching it when picking up the phone. The location would have been better on top or bottom of the phone. The app is clean, but it does not connect with Strava, a popular app, but does with Google Fit.

Surprisingly awesome phone!

I have been using an LG V10 for the past year. This phone is about a third of the price that I paid for the V10. This phone to me is hands down better. I love the ruggedness so I can have peace of mind that I wont destroy it. I know the specs aren't technically great. But the phone just flat out works. It fits my hand great. The screen is wonderful. The camera is much better than I expected. The overall speed of the phone is very good. Anyone who is on the fence about this phone I suggest giving it a try. The only downside is the placement of the power button I tend to accidentally press it quite often.

Replacement for Samsung,

Love he ease of all the security features, not too much. Fingerprint and knock code are the best. Quick button to check my walking is a plus as well as the weather/compass. I needed a more rugged phone for my walking, so far holding up though I have not dropped it. Caught out in rain so far so good on that feature as well. Battery lasts a whole day even with moderate use. I have small hands and still phone feels comfortable holding and using the phone.

I purchased this phone for my son. He was coming from a Samsung Galaxy S4 and a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. We love Sam sung but this time we didn't want to spend a lot of money. I looked at this phone mail because of the price and I was shocked as I viewed the specs. The battery, the camera, the physical size of the phone, the storage!!! All amazing...I couldn't believe what this phone offered and in this price range! My son is very hard on his phones, constantly watching videos and downloading large games/apps and the phone holds up. It doesn't crash or lag or get held up like other phines he's had. For those complaining and comparing it to the iphone...ios is a completely different system, you cannot compare the two phones accurately. Honestly, your either an iPhone person or an android person. I've notice most iPhone users, when switching to android, get very confused...it's not the phones fault. Anyhow, this is an amazing phone packed with features and an awesome price!

Great phone for the $. The active button gets in way on landscape mode but it can be disabled in settings. Once I got pelican case the button wasn't as noticeable and it covered the chrome corners so phone looked better.

The price was reasonable for the the I P and mil spec ratings. wish it had more ram and the new type C USB. Has a great battery and lots of storage.
Screen viewing is easy on the eyes. Loaded up Sygic, Neutron music player, and lots of music - The road has become a better place.

Doesn't Last
on October 11, 2018

The first couple months with this phone was fine but as time went by it started to deteriorate. I've had it for less than 2 years and now it will barely connect to the wifi automatically, apps tend to stop working and need to be closed and reopened, the auto brightness is all messed up, and it's terribly slow. I use Spotify for my music and it will often close the app while I'm listening or if I paused the music. Also, the keyboard is awful; it often senses the letter next to the one I tapped and the autocorrect leaves you scratching your head. You would be better off getting a more expensive phone cause this one just ain't worth it.

Overly-sensitive side buttons
on September 16, 2017

This phone would be great if the side buttons weren't so sensitive.
I bought the phone for it's ruggedness, battery, and price. It performs well and feels great--not too heavy and not too light.
However, the buttons on the side depress with the slightest touch all the time. When I set it on the treadmill, the buttons get pressed and the phone goes crazy. When I put the phone in and out of my pocket, a button gets pressed and the phone starts doing things I don't want it to. When I try to take a picture and hold the phone up...whoops, I tapped the button and now the phone screen is off.
The price was reasonable compared to the expensive Samsung S8 Active, but the nuisance of the buttons makes me question if I should keep it or not. If only LG would've designed it with some stronger spring-tension behind the buttons, it would be a great phone.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
