Love the zwave but quality so-so

I've used this lock with several different zwave hubs and it works great. Unfortunately, the inside locking mechanism failed after a year or so. KwikSet did replace under warranty. As others have noted, the lever gets loose and in my case, the whole unit tends to loosen as well. Mostly just an annoyance but I wonder if the lever will last long term.
Otherwise, I love the functionality.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy to install, rekey to match my other locks, program and setup the ZigBee with SmartThings!! I wish I’d done this a while ago. In addition to controlling the lock, you can see the lock status and battery level in the app.

Height of the indoor assembly should be shorter

This lock has worked well and reliably for many years. The batteries generally last six months to one year depending on the seasonal temperatures and use. I have used this with both Smart things and currently a Hubitat c-7 hub. For initial set-up, both required the lock to be in close proximity of the hub for inclusion. The device works well with Siri through Homebridge and has been tested with Alexa. Alexa was not used many years ago for security concerns, but now properly configured, Alexa should work. Since this is installed below a Kiwikset Smart deadbolt it was necessary to shorten the height of the device and this does require loosening and tilting the assembly to remove the battery pack for battery replacement. The height could be easily shortened by the manufacturer since the style is cosmetic. To do this, one needs a Dremel type cutter, a scape piece of plastic, super glue and some paint.

Great lock, doesn't work properly with Z-Wave

So I purchased this lock and it works great for the majority of the time, entering the code to enter the garage works great but when I try to add it to my Z-Wave network for remote control, it adds but doesn't register properly. Kwikset's customer service troubleshooting asked me to exclude it, then include it, and other stuff that I've already tried that they have to "verify" is not functioning.
Like I said, this is a nice lock to have access to the home all the time but when it does get added to the Z-Wave network, it is read as a Kwikset 910 (deadbolt), not a 912 (lever handle). I cannot control it remotely, Kwikset does not offer firmware updates, anything. So I have a "smart" lock that I cannot do anything "smart" with.
Would I recommend this to a friend? Perhaps... I like that you can rekey these locks yourself without having to take the lock apart but it needs work in the programming.

Don't Bother if your door has a deadbolt

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After an unfortunate lock out event, I ordered this handle set to prevent such problems in the future and as a nice add on to my Ring system. However what I discovered during installation is that if you have a deadbolt, it won't work. Given the age of my home (100+) I though it may have just been the way this door was installed so I proceeded to measure the doors in my newer addition, the spacing between handle and deadbolt is the same across 4 exterior doors. Unless you have a door with a custom spacing between handle and deadbolt don't waste you money on this. The worst part is, the main body fits without issue, it is the way the cover arches up that makes it too large to fit. A cosmetic design choice renders it useless. Well why not just get a electronic deadbolt you may ask, well that won't help you when your child locks the handle and closes the door while your keys are inside, the event that lead to the purchase.

It took care of the issue for now. Thanks for standing behind your product. I have a couple of these smartcode latches and deadbolts. I like the zwave technology and wireless control.

Great Solution

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife has been making keys for babysitters for the last few years and not getting them back once the babysitter has moved on. Since I don't have deadbolts on a couple of my doors, this was the obvious solution. It took me about 45 minutes to install them and about 5 minutes to link them to my home automation system. Now we can add delete codes for the babysitters as needed.
