Easy to install, rekey to match my other locks, program and setup the ZigBee with SmartThings!! I wish I’d done this a while ago. In addition to controlling the lock, you can see the lock status and battery level in the app.

Height of the indoor assembly should be shorter

This lock has worked well and reliably for many years. The batteries generally last six months to one year depending on the seasonal temperatures and use. I have used this with both Smart things and currently a Hubitat c-7 hub. For initial set-up, both required the lock to be in close proximity of the hub for inclusion. The device works well with Siri through Homebridge and has been tested with Alexa. Alexa was not used many years ago for security concerns, but now properly configured, Alexa should work. Since this is installed below a Kiwikset Smart deadbolt it was necessary to shorten the height of the device and this does require loosening and tilting the assembly to remove the battery pack for battery replacement. The height could be easily shortened by the manufacturer since the style is cosmetic. To do this, one needs a Dremel type cutter, a scape piece of plastic, super glue and some paint.

Beautiful, high quality, and easy to install

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased my first one as part of a home security package and got both the deadbolt for the front door and a couple for inside. I liked them so much I purchased a few more and I installed them myself, no issues, no problems, literally 5 minutes! super easy, super simple and the customer service is right there on the spot if you need them. Awesome and beautiful product. Very high quality look and finish.

Great lock, doesn't work properly with Z-Wave

So I purchased this lock and it works great for the majority of the time, entering the code to enter the garage works great but when I try to add it to my Z-Wave network for remote control, it adds but doesn't register properly. Kwikset's customer service troubleshooting asked me to exclude it, then include it, and other stuff that I've already tried that they have to "verify" is not functioning.
Like I said, this is a nice lock to have access to the home all the time but when it does get added to the Z-Wave network, it is read as a Kwikset 910 (deadbolt), not a 912 (lever handle). I cannot control it remotely, Kwikset does not offer firmware updates, anything. So I have a "smart" lock that I cannot do anything "smart" with.
Would I recommend this to a friend? Perhaps... I like that you can rekey these locks yourself without having to take the lock apart but it needs work in the programming.

Works well but the handle gets loose after a while

Installed this lever in July 2012 and adding this to my z-wave network was easy. I love the convenience of not having to use my keys (I still carry them though in case of emergencies). I've also programmed this lever to lock automatically in the middle of the night. What I don't like is that the lever itself gets loose over time and maybe a spring in the lock gets loose which makes it difficult to unlock without turning the lever in a certain way. This is a minor problem when unlocking the handle manually but unreliable when trying to unlock wirelessly.

We used to forget locking our our Garage door leading to the house..Installed one of these locks (took me less than 15 min) and paired it with our Alarm panel (2Gig) over ZWave. Now all of us at home can use our Alarm PINs to unlock the door, super convenient.. Best $100 spent and it auto locks the door after 15 seconds...
We also get an alert who opened the door and at what time and automate turning the lights on when the door is unlocked ..

Kwikset SmartCode Z-Wave - Great with SmartThings!

This was a very simple installation in our vacation home and easily integrates with the SmartThings home automation system. While the standard SmartThings door lock app ('thing') only had basic lock/unlock functions, in their support community it was easy to find a custom plugin that allowed programming of the 30 user slots with TXT/SMS and smart phone push notifications. If heightened security is your goal, the deadbolt product will offer greater difficulty to physically bypass over a level/door latch model such as this one; that said, this product is perfect for secured ease of access and can be complimented with a secondary lock mechanism for even greater security. The SmartKey feature is very useful for re-keying to any existing, custom or new, compatible key insert for changing who has physical access in addition to the electronic key pad.
Great product and reliable! Purchasing more for my other locations, highly recommend!

Frustrations on so many levels.

I purchased this product for its zwave and smart key features. Little did I know it would eat batteries, be inconsistent with connection and the smart rekeying feature would not work. $200 paperweight.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
